After two disappointing seasons under Kenny Dalgish, Liverpool has finally appointed a manager worth betting on. According to International Business Times, Brendon Rodgers' appointment has brought the approval of his former boss Jose Mourinho. Mourinho once used these words to describe Rodgers, "I like everything in him. He is ambitious and does not see football very differently from myself." 

Liverpool fans can finally anticipate a season that can make all the difference and bring them back to glory. The upcoming transfer window will allow critics and fans to attempt to predict the success of Rodgers' at Anfield stadium.

The Examiner reports Liverpool are chasing the $15.5 million Joe Allen. 

Allen had caught the eyes of millions around the world, as his contributions for Swansea were what lead the club to a 11th-place finish in its first year in the EPL. 

Considering Liverpool's newly-appointed manager is Swansea City ex-boss Brenden Rodgers, a move for Allen may actually be in the works. 

As Swansea are currently without a manager, this transfer may not take long to complete. 

Gylfi Sigurdsson

Brenden Rodgers may be planning to prevent his old club Swansea's $10 million deal with Hoffenheim for Gylfi Sigurdsson in order to be reunited with his former player at Anfield. 

FOX Sports is reporting that Sigurdsson has changed his views and now is interested in a move to Liverpool.

I'd like to play on with Swansea since I was really happy there but after Brendan Rodgers left the club for Liverpool, that changed the situation. I expect not to stay at Swansea because of the uncertainty going on there as it is not clear who is boss. I have said that my desire to continue playing in the Premier League and Liverpool is completely considered. Liverpool is a big club that has a glorious history.

If Brenden Rodgers and Sigurdsson can meet terms with Liverpool and Swansea, we may see Rodgers bring another former player to his new club this summer. 

Clint Dempsey

More of a rumor than a reality, the American international Clint Dempsey is linked with a move to Anfield this summer. However, Dempsey is also strongly linked to a move to Arsenal this summer, as he has said to want a chance to play in the Champions League. 

According to the UK's Daily Mail, Brenden Rodgers may be eyeing Dempsey as priority over Joe Allen. Dempsey, who scored 21 goals for Fullham last season, is valued at $18 million, but may be bought for less, as his current contract with the London club is set to expire next year. 

Nevertheless, Dempsey states (via Metro.co.uk), "it’s no secret that I would like to play Champions League one day in my career. If it’s meant to be, it will be", and his desire to play in the European Championship may make it unlikely that the American chooses Anfield over Emirates Stadium as his next home.  

Ibrahim Afellay

According to Talksport.co.uk Liverpool are planning a $9.5 million bid for Barcelona's Ibrahim Afellay.

The young Dutchman had been brought to Camp Nou in January 2011 for $4 million from PSV. However, the 26-year-old did not break into the first team due to suffering a ligament injury in September 2011. His injury made way for a newly-promoted Isaac Cuenca and the returning Cesc Fabregas to earn first team play. 

Although he had a disappointing club season, Afellay has been selected to represent the Dutch national team at the Euros. Affeley is considered to become the breakthrough star for Netherlands this summer.

The Examiner reports that Inter Milan may also be in the race to sign the Liverpool target. Therefore, Liverpool may need to step up their chase for Holland's promising youngster. 

Marouane Fellaini

Caught Offside believes Rodgers may be preparing a move for Everton midfielder Marouane Fellaini.

Lest we forget that Everton and Liverpool are hometown rivals; hence, a move for the highly-rated Belgian international may be tricky. However, considering The Guardian report that Everton are suffering from financial constraints, this move may be mutually beneficial, as the Belgian is valued at $29 million.

Although in the end, Fellaini may not approve of such a move, as Everton placed No. 7 on the league, one spot above Liverpool. Hence, until more reports surface, this transfer link may just be a rumor or a highly optimistic fanfiction.
