Revisiting A-Rod's 60 Minutes Interview

Well it turns out that Jose Canseco might be the most truthful man in baseball. He’s outed many players as steroid cheats and one by one they all called him liar and slowly we have come to find out that they are usually the ones caught lying.

In his last book Canseco outed Alex Rodriguez and naturally A-Rod lied to cover his ass. Why wouldn’t he? Canseco is viewed by many as a low life and his reasoning for not coming forward with A-Rod’s name in the first place was always dubious at best.

Still Canseco’s claim forced A-Rod to go on 60 Minutes and deny the allegations. Below is a segment from that interview:

Highlights include:

Couric: “For the record, have you ever used steroids, human growth hormone or any other performance-enhancing substance?”

A-Rod: “No.”

Couric: Have you ever been tempted?

A-Rod: “No.”

Couric: “You never felt like, ‘This guy’s doing it, maybe I should look into this, too? He’s getting better numbers, playing better ball.”

A-Rod: “I’ve never felt overmatched on the baseball field. I’ve always been a very strong, dominant position. And I felt that if I did my work as I’ve done since I was, you know, a rookie back in Seattle, I didn’t have a problem competing at any level. So, no.”

I wonder if anyone will ever question Canseco again.
