Pacquiao vs Bradley: Perfect Outcome for Each Fighter on June 9

Brian MaziqueJun 6, 2012

Manny Pacquiao would love to destroy Timothy Bradley, but Desert Storm needs a hard-fought victory to completely capitalize on this opportunity. Technically it's the same outcome, but it's a very different path for two fighters at different points in their careers.

Success is defined differently for everyone, and that will certainly be the case on June 9 when Pacquiao defends his WBO Welterweight Title vs. Bradley. It's obvious they both want to win, but just winning could bring about criticism, speculation and an ultimate discrediting of the win.

In a perfect world, here is how the fight would end for both fighters:

Pacquiao's Perfect Ending

(In my best Jim Lampley voice)

"After coming out strong and ferocious in Round 1, an already bloodied Bradley succumbs to Pac-Man's pressure and nasty combinations. He collapses in his own corner under the assault, and Pac-Man raises his hands in victory."

This is the Manny fans need to see on June 9:

Why is This Perfect?

Right now, the following things have been questioned about Manny:

If he completely eradicates Bradley in this manner, it will put all of those questions to bed.

This would reaffirm that Pacquiao is among the two best fighters in the world, and this would breathe new life into the desire for a Pacquiao vs. Floyd Mayweather Jr. super-fight.

At this point, the buzz seems to have waned a bit. Some of that is because of the cat-and-mouse game between Money and Pac-Man, but some of it is because there are doubts that both men are still at the top of their games.

If Manny finishes Bradley like this, it'll make most fans believers.

If Manny struggles, or just looks decent then the doubters will increase. He will feel like he lost, even if the number in the win column increases.

Bradley's Perfect Ending:

(Que my Lampley voice again...ahem)

"The two are slugging it out in the middle of the ring, both men are battered, but Bradley is the fresher of the two.

What a fight this has been.

Bradley dropped Pacquiao in the 11th round, and he's trying to do it again.

Pacquiao fights back, but he may need a knockout to win. The final bell sounds and both men raise their hands in an attempt to claim victory, but it's clear in my eyes that Bradley has won this fight.

Wake up Larry."

The final score cards read a unanimous decision win for Bradley.

Why is This Perfect?

If Bradley blows through Pacquiao, which is highly unlikely, he'll get credit for the victory, but many will say Pac-Man got old in this fight. It happens to every boxer, it can be gradual or it can be a sudden occurrence.

I could make a case for either in Pacquaio's case.

That said, if the fight is competitive and Pacquiao has his moments then it'll make Bradley look like a warrior; one that took the best shots from a still-formidable legend, and won a classic bout.

Nothing would make Bradley look better to boxing fans than that type of ending.

I can't wait to see if either of their fairy tales come true.
