WWE: How Ric Flair Could Make Dolph Ziggler the Next Shawn Michaels

Leonardo SplinterJun 4, 2012

Before Shawn Michaels became "The Showstopper" and "Mr. WrestleMania", he was half of The Rockers with Marty Jannetty.

After superkicking and throwing Jannetty through a window, Michaels entered the world of singles competition. Michaels had everything it took to be a superstar. Actually, everything but one: no proven track record in the singles competition.

At the time, Sensational Sherri had only been associated with top stars like "Million Dollar Man" Ted DiBiase and "Macho Man" Randy Savage. So, by being associated with Sherri, Michaels would become a top star as well.

Today, Dolph Ziggler has a chance to walk down the same path to greatness Shawn Michaels did. Ziggler, like Michaels, has all the skills necessary to become a big star. Like Michaels, Ziggler has a chance to become great by being associated with greatness.

That's where Ric Flair comes in.

According to Justin LaBar of WrestleZone and Bleacher Report,

"

There has been some consideration in creative on how to use Ric Flair if he is to sign some kind of contract with WWE.

The popular discussion has been for Ric Flair to be used as a manager for Dolph Ziggler.

"

Like Sensational Sherri, Ric Flair has only been associated with top stars. Not only has Flair been allied with top stars like Triple H, Randy Orton, Batista and Mr. Perfect, but he has feuded with countless top stars like Hulk Hogan, Sting and "Macho Man" Randy Savage.

Ultimately, if Ric Flair were to manage Dolph Ziggler, Ziggler would become a top star simply by being associated with Flair, just as Shawn Michaels became a top star by being associated with Sensational Sherri.

Of course, there are drawbacks.

For one thing, Vickie Guerrero would look pretty incompetent as a manager if Ziggler were to leave her for Flair and later win a WWE or World Title under Flair's guidance.

Another drawback would be that Jack Swagger would probably wind up looking like Marty Jannetty—Shawn Michaels' less-than-successful former tag partner.

Although there are drawbacks to having Flair manage Ziggler, why should Ziggler suffer because of them?

What do you think? Is it a good idea for Ric Flair to manage Dolph Ziggler? Is there a better way to elevate Ziggler's career?
