WWE: What the New WWE Title Belt Should and Shouldn't Look Like

According to various reports, such as one by Cageside Seats, during a Q&A session on June 2 at the Wizard World convention in Philadelphia, CM Punk claimed there is a new WWE Title belt design, and it will be introduced in the near future.

With that said, here are my thoughts on what the new title belt should and shouldn't look like.

For one thing, the belt should look as dignified as its history proves it is. It should look like something worthy of respect. Bret "The Hitman" Hart was a wrestler everybody could respect and take seriously. Santino Marella, on the other hand...

Don't get me wrong. I love Santino, but it's hard to take him seriously.

Let's face it, appearance matters. A man wearing a suit will always be viewed with more respect than a man with his pants on the ground. Bret Hart's sharpshooter will always be taken more seriously than Santino's cobra finishing move.

The same applies to the WWE Title belt. It's difficult to take the current WWE spinner belt seriously. It says "Champ" instead of "Champion." What's up with that? It's like calling a doctor "doc." Where's the respect?

Add that to the fact the belt has a ton of diamonds on it, and it looks like nothing more than a mainstream rapper's bling-bling accessory.

Ultimately, nothing about the current belt design suggests it should be viewed seriously or with respect. For that reason, it definitely needs to be changed. Like I wrote above, it should look as dignified as its history proves it is. 

So, should WWE use a past design? Should they reintroduce the "Undisputed Champion" or "Winged Eagle" design?

In my opinion, absolutely not.

Why not?

The current roster should have their own title design. They should have something exclusively for themselves. To reintroduce a past design would be sort of like living in the past. Sure, WWE's past was great and should be remembered, but how can you create a future when you're living in the past?

One more thing: The new WWE Title belt should not be specially designed for one wrestler. It should be able to fit every single wrestler's gimmick or personality. Can you imagine The Undertaker holding the current spinner belt? No? Me either.
