Sites Every Green Bay Packers Fan Simply Must Bookmark

Andrew GardaJun 7, 2018

I frequently get asked where I go most frequently for Packers news and information—aside from, of course, Bleacher Report.

As it's a very rare slow period in the off-season (cue Lions arrest), I thought I would compile a short list of the places I go, if not daily in all cases, pretty darned close.

Some of these you will undoubtedly have marked. Some you might not have.

TOP NEWS

Colts Jaguars Football
Rams Seahawks Football
Mississippi Football

Either way, all these sites should be on your 'in-season bookmarks'.

OK, so I'm a homer—these guys were my first introduction to Packers fans and I still do work for them. Say what you will about me listing them first (and really, there is no order here) but not only have I been impressed with everyone involved since day one, but the fans who I have interacted with on the site have been engaging, friendly and intelligent, if a bit feisty.

Not only do you get the in-season weekly video show 'Packers Transplants' starring B/R's own Aaron Nagler and his co-host with the mo-host Corey Behnke, but a tremendous staff of writers who crank awesome content out on a daily basis.

Plus you get the Monday through Friday Railbird Central Podcast with Brian Carriveau, a ridiculous amount of in-season chats and my show, The Hard Count which is the CHTV NFL show.

It's a great mix of opinion on breaking news, game by game insight, league-wise discussion and Packers salivation.

The Doppler (not to be confused with The Dobbler) covers a host of Wisconsin teams, so of course they cover the Packers. I am especially fond of Colleen's 'Violent Femme's View' pieces but across the board it's an enjoyable fans-eye view of what happens with the Packers.

It's not breaking news, it's not breaking ground, but the site spins things in a very enjoyable way which tends to feel fresh to me.

Packer Ranter
As with The Doppler, you get a fan's perspective at Packer Ranter. It's a bent and twisted perspective at times, but it's perspective!

Co-founder Rob Greenfield just took a leave of absence but Frank Hillside soldiers on in his absence. This place makes me bust up and recently explained how Lambeau Field would make a good anti-zombie bunker.

As a zombie-horror/The Walking Dead fan who shamefully admits to gauging the survivability of buildings he visits, I approve.

If you don't know Al, or his site, Al is a Jersey born and bred Packers fan. Yup. That happened.

Al's site is technically 'AllGreenBayPackers.com' but even the web address still says 'Jersey AL'. Along with his team of thousands of writers (not so many perhaps) the site has some excellent commentary on topics both specific (such as Finley's recent chemistry comments) and more general (state of the Packers QBs).

Read the site, especially during the season and you will learn very quickly that not only do they have the passion of Packers fan, but an intricate knowledge of the game.  They break down a play or a scheme about as well as anyone I have seen.

SBNation's Packers blog does a good job of staying on top of the breaking news as well as commenting on wider Packers-related things. They also have a pretty solid section dedicated to fan-written content as well.

It also has some great archived stuff on the history of the team as well as a section on games (which has some forward thinking stuff as well as looks back) and other sections.

The Press-Gazette is dedicated to the Packers. How do I know this?

Because at the top of the page are tabs to take you to News, Business, Sports and Packers.

That's right kids—the Packers get their own tab and it's listed second after News.

Mike Vandermause, Rob Demovsky and Pete Doughtery do an excellent job of balanced coverage, mixing in some good lighter pieces on occasion with the harder news.

It's one of the sites I go to daily and there's always something worth reading or in some cases, reading again.

The home of Jason Wilde, where you will always find both links to his stuff as well as his radio show.

Of course, Wilde is a long time Packers reporter with deep ties to the team which means plenty of sources and inside scoops. Being attached to the Mother ship of ESPN has it's advantages as well, which allows him to draw info from other league-wide sources as well.

I always enjoy his insight into the events around the team and he is one of the guys out there that, if I haven't heard him say it (and it's not in the Gazette or JSOnline) then it should be looked at with a wary eye.

I head over to the JS several times a day. Somehow I end up spending more time on there than I expect—either they have found a way to send addictive crack-waves through the internet or the writing is just that enjoyable.

Tyler Dunne is the man but while he does the bulk of the heavy lifting, other very solid writers pitch in as well. As with Wilde on ESPN, if it hasn't been said somewhere on the JS site, it hasn't happened yet.

Did I miss someone? Is there a Packers site I didn't throw in that I should have? Better tell me in the comments—how can I learn if I don't know?
