TNA IMPACT! Slamback: Is Family Bigger Than Personal Ego?
IMPACT! opens with highlights of last week’s broadcast…not to mention the return of Samoa Joe. But before the fun can begin, the Main Event Mafia come down to deliver some more long winded speeches about how they’re the best.
Kevin Nash starts to talk about Scott Hall and his former student Samoa Joe. Nash then decides that he wants a piece of Samoa Joe at Against All Odds. Kurt Angle then goes on to say that the TNA World Heavyweight Championship will remain with The Main Event Mafia…regardless of whether it’s him or Sting that leaves with the gold.
In response, Team 3D ensures that Angle will never tag to Sting tonight. They plan to return the “favor” that Angle gave Sting last week when he put The Icon in a handicap match against them last week.
Back on the program, The Lethal Consequences are set to get some payback on the Guns. But before they could start getting some of that payback, Beer Money comes down to get an early advantage on the #1 Contenders before their match at Against All Odds.
As usual, the Guns are not even trying to help out their fellow Front Line members. The end of the brawl comes when James Storm slams a steel chair on the arm of Consequences Creed before refs come down to finally break up the melee.
First Bout: Jay Lethal and Eric Young vs. The Motor City Machine Guns
Shelley and Sabin try to take advantage of the handicap left by Creed’s injury. But the numbers game starts to catch up with him as Sabin comes to the aid of his partner and current X Division Champion. As the Guns are doubling up on Lethal, Eric Young bolts down to the ring and jumps in to help his Front Line teammate.
Young comes in and cleans house as he blocks the Cradle Shock, stacks both guys on top of his shoulders and delivers a Double Showtime Driver to pick up the win over The Guns…and some payback for The Front Line heading into Against All Odds.
After the bell, Alex Shelley calls out EY for a match for the X Division Championship at Against All Odds. It doesn’t take Young long to accept the challenge of the confident X Division Champion.
In the back, Jim Cornette has to deal with the Kongtourage and TNA Legends Champion Booker T. After Cornette refuses to put him in the Sewell-Bashir match as the referee, Booker makes it clear that something will happen to Shane Sewell tonight.
Also in the back, The Beautiful People try to look tough through all their Macy’s makeup.
Second Bout: Sheik Abdul Bashir vs. Shane Sewell
After several collar-elbow tie ups, Sewell gets upended by Bashir in the corner, but it doesn’t take long for him to bounce back with a series of snap mares and hip takeovers. But Bashir uses the steel railing to get control. But Sewell starts fighting back once again with some modified moves followed by a Fisherman’s Suplex.
After Slick Johnson goes down, and a double clothesline, Booker T comes down and fights Sewell to cause the DQ. As Booker T tries to gets an advantage, Shane fights back and lands some good shots before security comes in to break up the brawl.
In the back, Sting says that if anyone else is TNA Champion other than him, the title would be tarnished. Does that include Main Event Mafia member Kurt Angle, who will also be in that match this Sunday?
As the show returns, we take a look at the last eight months between TBP, Roxxi and Taylor Wilde.
Third Bout: The Beautiful People vs. Roxxi & Taylor Wilde
The Blondes come down and start the anarchy before it even gets into the ring. Sky and Roxxi fight on one side, while Angelina takes the fight to Taylor. After launching Roxxi into the steel steps, the fight finally gets into the ring as both members of The Beautiful People gang up on Taylor Wilde. After getting her senses back, Roxxi returns to the ring, but the scorned blondes prove too much as they pick up the victory. But after the bell, Kip jumps in and helps them deliver the Brown Bag Special on the two fallen Knockouts. But the Governor comes down and takes down both members of the Beautiful People once again.
Fourth Bout: Shark Boy vs. Brutus Magnus
Shark Boy isn’t impressed as he goes on the offensive right off the bat, but Brutus proves that he has some strength as he drops him with a Fall Away Slam followed by Snake Eyes and Harley Race High Knee. But a miscue allows Shark Boy to get back control. After delivering a Code Breaker, Shark Boy misses the Stunner, and Magnus hits The Tormentum to pick up the win in his debut.
After the bell, Magnus issues an open challenge for this Sunday’s Against All Odds. Showing his displeasure with the level of competition he had tonight, he calls out every wrestler in TNA. Whoever wants a chance at greatness can now step up to the plate and take on the UK Dynamo this Sunday.
In the back, Kurt Angle makes it clear that he needs no one to return to the top….including MEM partner Sting. But tonight, he is set to prove that he is better than everyone else in the ring.
Before the match, we get a look back at the anarchy and war known as The Monstrous Blueprint.
Fifth Bout: “The Blueprint” Matt Morgan vs. “The War Machine” Rhino
The two men go back and forth, but Morgan gets control when he drops the War Machine with a huge clothesline followed by a Russian Leg Sweep. Morgan continues the pressure on Rhino’s neck, but The War Machine starts fighting back with a shoulder block and belly to belly. Rhino misses The GORE, but Morgan doesn’t miss the Carbon Footprint.
As he grabs a steel chair and prepares for the Hellavator, The Monster storms down with two black bags. He jumps in and hits The Black Hole Slam. Abyss opens one of the bags to reveal a load of thumbtacks, but Morgan manages to roll out of the ring before he is choke slammed into the tacks. How will this war end between these two Monsters of TNA this Sunday at Against All Odds?
Back on the program, Abyss introduces Matt Morgan to his real best friend: The Real Abyss. With that, he starts punching the glass and tacks that surround him in the ring. In the back, we are informed that TNA Founder Jeff Jarrett will indeed be back on IMPACT next week to discuss and confront The Main Event Mafia.
Main Event: Sting & Kurt Angle vs. Team 3D
Angle and Brother Devon start off the match as Devon gets early control with a hard shoulder block. As the Mafia members continue being divided, Devon continues the advantage. Brother Ray comes in and continues the punishment. As Sting tries to tag in, Angle gives a one arm salute and delivers a series of punches to the IWGP World Tag Team Champions. But the Tag Champs fight back and land a flapjack on The Olympic Champion.
As Angle rolls out of the ring, Sting jumps down to talk some sense into his partner. As the two argue outside of the ring, Scott Steiner comes down to play peacemaker. Back on the show, we learn that Steiner got himself tossed from ringside after getting involved in the match. In the ring, Team 3D gets control back as Brother Ray hits the Bubba Bomb to continue the pressure. Sting again tries to get the tag, but Angle tells him to get out.
After Team 3D hits the Dudley Device, the Mafia hits the ring and causes the end of the match…but not the end of the anarchy. As Booker T and Steiner get dropped, Sting and Angle continue getting into each other’s faces on the outside.
As the show ends, we get a closer look at this Sunday’s Against All Odds…but in the process, the feed is interrupted by the dark surroundings of a familiar face to The Mafia. It hasn’t been confirmed, but we all know what’s coming: Samoa Joe is coming to whack you!
