Manny Pacquiao: Trainer Freddie Roach's Trash Talk Is Unnecessary Distraction

Manny Pacquiao is just eight days away from his fight with Timothy Bradley. The Filipino superstar does not need any distractions right now, especially from trainer Freddie Roach, as he prepares for the bout.

According to the ESPN Boxing staff, the Hall of Fame trainer is not all that impressed by Desert Storm’s physique and feels it is for nothing more than show.

"That muscle looks really good - but that's all it is: he's slow, he can't punch… I don't see any problems," Roach said.

That statement was just more fuel for Bradley’s fire, who feels he has been disrespected and that no one believes in his abilities (Vegas certainly doesn’t, putting the up-and-comer at +325 to win, according to Bovada.lv).

While not dissing his opponent directly, Roach was a bit too confident that his fighter would emerge from the ring victorious. He told ESPN:

"He [Pacquiao] has a lot of confidence and I think he knows he has something to prove because people are asking, 'Is he all done?' after the last fight, when we had a little bit of a poor performance. That's gonna get him a little more motivated, and he's going to go out there and prove to the people he's still the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world."

Pac-Man may be the most motivated person in the world right now, but Roach isn’t doing him any favors by opening his mouth. It is just going to anger Bradley more while creating an unfavorable distraction in his own camp.

The fight is on June 9, and it would be wise for Roach to shut his mouth and just do his job until the battle is over.
