Manchester United Transfer News: Red Devils Wasting Time with Jordi Alba
Manchester United, still reeling from the shocking decision from Eden Hazard, has decided to throw its hat in the ring to land Valencia defender Jordi Alba. Unfortunately the Red Devils' efforts will prove to be too little, too late.
According to Talk Sport UK, United manager Sir Alex Ferguson likes what Alba would give the squad now and in the future, when he takes over for aging star Patrice Evra.
"Alba is rated as one of the best left-backs in the world and has been attracting interest from a number of top clubs across Europe.
Sir Alex Ferguson is believed to be a big admirer of the Spanish international and sees him as a long-term replacement for Patrice Evra.

Given Alba's strong defensive prowess and mental toughness, United would be making a significant upgrade if it could find a way to land the 23-year-old star.
The problem is, according to Spanish newspaper Sport, Barcelona is the leader in the clubhouse to land Alba's services. He is from the region and has obvious emotional ties to Barca, so it would make sense that he gives them every opportunity to claim his services.
United, on the other hand, would presumably have to bust open their checkbook to make a serious play for Alba. He is not likely to simply choose the Red Devils if money and playing time are close to the same.
Since United do not have to make drastic moves to remain competitive, the incentive for them to go above and beyond the call of duty to make sure that Alba comes to play in Manchester is minimal.
The Red Devils are simply wasting their time by making a push for Alba at this stage of the transfer process. It is a nice story that will get the fans excited and look beyond the loss of Hazard, but it is not one that is going to yield results.
