Arsenal Transfer News: Why Robin van Persie Is Guaranteed to Stick with Gunners

David DanielsMay 31, 2012

Robin van Persie is experiencing déjà vu. He is currently staring a major life-altering decision right between the eyes, and like in his year’s prior to stardom, a significant person in his life is offering him their advice.

Or, in this case, giving him a command.

Matthew Rowlands of The Daily Star has reported that Van Persie won’t agree to stay with Arsenal until they acquire top-notch talent.

A source close to the team said: “Arsenal know it’s not about money. Even if they offered Van Persie what Manchester City can pay it would make no difference if he doesn’t believe the club can challenge for trophies.”

The latest breaking news surrounding Van Persie, though, will result in him accepting the Gunners' offer with open arms.

According to the Daily Mail, Van Persie’s mother has told her son to stay with Arsenal.

The striker said of his mother’s influence on his life: “She always encouraged me to think for myself. It’s always important for me to get Mum’s opinion of my performance after a match and I make no excuses about being a mummy’s boy.”

However, this didn’t stop with his mother. His wife, Bouchra, wants him to re-sign with the Gunners, too.

She said : “Arsenal showed faith in Robin when he was going through a lean time, so we should not repay them by thinking about other clubs. Our home life and our children are happy in London.”

So there you have it. Van Persie is back. While nothing is official, that’s about as official as a re-signing gets without it actually being official.

Van Persie can have all the talent around him in the world, but if his mother and wife aren’t pleased, he definitely isn’t going to be a happy footballer.

Feel free to stop by Hallmark and pick up thank-you cards for the two of them.
