According to Will Brinson of CBS Sports, Terrell Owens has been cut by the Allen Wranglers of the Indoor Football League.

Apparently, Owens wasn't giving it his all for the Wranglers, as team owner John Frankel released this statement to ESPNDallas.com:

"Our fans are amongst the best in the league, and it is impossible to maintain a player when even our fans notice and comment on a player's lack of effort both on and off the field," Frankel said in a statement released to ESPNDallas.com. "We need to do what is best for this team, our fans and this community."

This is likely the lowest point of the once-great wide receiver's career. The 38-year-old Owens signed a six-figure salary and was given minority ownership of the team, but even that could not keep him on the roster. He reportedly refused to play in two critical road games for the Wranglers and even missed a team charity event at a children's hospital.

Owens played with the San Francisco 49ers from 1996 to 2003 before leaving the organization on a bad note. The star receiver relocated to Philadelphia, where he played one full season for the Eagles before being suspended and subsequently deactivated in his second year.

He then signed a four-year, $34 million contract with the Dallas Cowboys but was released after three seasons due in large part to his distracting off-field persona.

After a forgetful tenure with the Buffalo Bills in 2009, Owens moved on to the Cincinnati Bengals in 2010, marking the last time he's worn an NFL uniform to date.

This recent release may prove to be the final note of what was an illustrious career for Owens.
