New York Yankees Turned Down by Andruw Jones
According to Jon Heyman, the Yankees made an offer for a non-roster spot to Andruw Jones, but they were turned down. This is interesting. I had no idea they made an offer. We all heard rumors about this, but nobody ever reported an offer was made. I guess Cashman wants a backup plan just in case Melky of Gardy donโt work out.
Maybe a new offer will be made, or he might just go after another center fielder. Donโt expect any major moves though, because that wonโt happen.
"Texas, Philly, Atlanta and both New York teams are among teams thought to have some interest in Andruw Jones, who went from superstar to clueless hitter in two short years. The Yankees offered a non-roster spot and were turned down. Texas looks like a better fit. Jones probably needs a top hitting coach to get his swing back to where it was in 2006. Kevin Long would have worked in New York, and so would Rudy Jaramillo in Texas.
