World Football's Biggest FAILs of the Week
Singing is a talent not possessed by all. In fact, some people associated with world football are downright awful at it.
Thus, we have the raison d'etre for this week's edition of World Football's Biggest FAILs of the Week.
Fans of the United States Men's National Team already know where we're going with this. Everyone else should get a good pair of headphones and a cold beverage—because the national anthem before Saturday night's game was the epitome of entertainment.
Elsewhere in singing-related news, Argentine international Javier Zanetti is bad at it. Just ask the people of Indonesia.
Confused? All will be explained inside.
Messi Dead?
1 of 6If you follow Twitter closely, you might have discovered, to your horror, that Lionel Messi reportedly died over the weekend after suffering cardiac arrest.
He didn't, of course. The Barcelona and Argentina superstar remains alive and well.
So how did all this happen? Click here for details.
There's upside here, of course: Now some crazy fans can start an elaborate conspiracy theory about Barcelona replacing Messi with a lookalike.
Stay on the lookout for coded messages recorded in reverse on classic vinyl albums.
National Anthem Butchered
2 of 6Prior to Team USA's 5-1 destruction of Scotland on Saturday in Jacksonville, Fla., singer Victoria Zarlenga's rendition of the national anthem was, well, awful.
Watch it above.
Then click here to read her excuse. Here's a preview:
"I did not realize I would need ear buds as monitors and to block out the stadium sound delay, lack of knowledge on my part.
"
Aha! Those pesky ear buds strike again!
Voronin Miss
3 of 6Not much went wrong for the Ukraine in the Euro 2012 co-hosts' 4-0 friendly victory over Estonia on Monday.
Andriy Yarmolenko, Oleg Gusev, Andriy Voronin and Artem Milevskiy scored once each, and the Ukraine dominated possession 69-31 percent.
But Voronin, a former Liverpool "star," fluffed a glorious chance from six yards, somehow missing an open net.
Oopsie.
Corner Kick or Square Pass?
4 of 6This video comes to us from the Women's FA Cup final between Chelsea and Birmingham City.
The match was held on Saturday at Ashton Gate in Bristol and featured this, uhh, corner kick.
Oh, dear.
Birmingham won the match on penalties.
Booing Robben
5 of 6Arjen Robben had a tough time in the Champions League final earlier this month, missing an extra-time penalty that likely would have given Bayern a victory.
Instead, Bayern lost, and when Robben and the Netherlands played a friendly last week against Bayern, Robben was booed by the home fans at the Allianz Arena.
Bayern fans are hereby banned from complaining about player loyalty for one year.
Zanetti's Got Talent?
6 of 6Here's Inter Milan's Argentine international defender Javier Zanetti singing a tune on an Indonesian talent show after an introduction from what's apparently the Indonesian Ryan Seacrest.
No further explanation necessary.
