French Open 2012 TV Schedule: When and Where to Watch Top Players on Monday

Austin GreenJun 7, 2018

After an exciting Day 1 that saw Andy Roddick get bounced from Roland Garros, we now turn our attention to Day 2 of the 2012 French Open.

Monday will be bursting with action, as some of the best players in the world will look to avoid joining Roddick in upset city.

Although some big names like Rafael Nadal and Serena Williams won't be playing on Monday, there are still plenty of stars to watch for. Here is everything you need to know about the critical matches of Day 2.

Men - Top Players to Watch

No. 1 Novak Djokovic vs. Potito Starace

Djokovic is going for the career gland slam at Roland Garros, as well as his fourth consecutive major victory.

He will certainly be tested in the tournament, but he should have no trouble with Starace in Round 1. The two have faced just once before (2007 Wimbledon), with Djokovic easily winning 6-0, 6-3, 6-4.

I'm expecting another easy win for him on Monday.

No. 3 Roger Federer vs. Tobias Kamke

Federer will be looking to win his second career French Open title, and after coming out on top at the blue clay of the Madrid Open earlier this year, he should be feeling good about his chances.

These two have never played, but that certainly doesn't give the German Kamke any sort of an advantage.

Federer will cruise to a blowout win in Round 1.

Women - Top Players to Watch

No. 1 Victoria Azarenka vs. Brianti

These two women have never met before, so we have no head-to-head results to fall back on.

However, given Azarenka's recent dominance of the women's division, she likely won't be tested by Brianti.

Azarenka is the world's No. 1 player and the 2012 Australian Open champion. There's no way she bows out in the first round at Roland Garros.

No. 3 Agnieszka Radwanska vs. Bojana Jovanovski

Monday will also be the first meeting between Radwanska and Jovanovski.

Although miracles do happen from time to time, Radwanska should go unchallenged in Round 1. The 23-year-old has reached five Grand Slam quarterfinals and has won three tournaments this year.

I'm expecting her to roll over Jovanovski on her way to a breakout performance at the French Open.
