WWE No Way Out 2012: 7 Matches They Need to Add to the Card ASAP

Drake OzJun 7, 2018

We are already less than three weeks away from the next WWE pay-per-view, No Way Out.

After a three-year absence, No Way Out returns and will take place at the IZOD Center in East Rutherford, N.J.

The show will be headlined by The Big Show vs. John Cena inside a steel cage, and also announced for the card so far is Sheamus defending the World Heavyweight Championship against Alberto Del Rio.

Of course, those aren't going to be the only two matches on the PPV, though.

With another four to six matches likely to be added to No Way Out, let's take a look at seven matches we need to see round out the card.

Divas Championship: Layla (c) vs. Beth Phoenix

1 of 7

There is absolutely no heat to this "rivalry" and no real reason for us to care about it whatsoever.

But we need to get something out of the Divas division at No Way Out, so why not this?

Layla has received some pretty tepid reactions as a babyface and doesn't look to be 100 percent healthy, while Beth Phoenix is obviously the best thing going in the Divas division at the moment.

Given that Beth squashed Kelly Kelly on last week's RAW, the WWE just needs to somehow let Beth earn another rematch against Layla, face her at No Way Out and beat her to regain the Divas Championship.

The match between Layla and Beth at Over the Limit was actually decent, but putting and keeping the title on a babyface Diva who generates little to no reaction isn't doing much for the Divas division.

Just give Beth a rematch and let her win the belt back already.

United States Championship: Ricardo Rodriguez vs. Santino Marella (c)

2 of 7

I know that a lot of wrestling fans hate what's been going on with Ricardo Rodriguez and Santino Marella, but I don't have a big problem with it.

Yeah, it devalues the United States Championship. But so what? It's not like that title can mean any less these days.

Ricardo and Santino are far and away the two funniest performers in the WWE at the moment, and even though a match and rivalry between the two might not be appealing to die-hard or Internet wrestling fans, it does appeal to a lot of other wrestling fans.

The comedy between the two is the best we're going to get out of the PG Era, and if the WWE ever gives them an actual match, the wrestling wouldn't be all that bad, either.

I think the WWE is heading in the direction of another Santino vs. Ricardo match, and given what transpired on last night's RAW, I wouldn't be surprised to see it happen at No Way Out and for it to be for the United States Championship.

Triple-Threat Match for the WWE Tag Team Championship

3 of 7

Kofi Kingston and R-Truth (c) vs. Epico and Primo vs. Titus O'Neil and Darren Young

Kingston and Truth helped out their boy Brodus Clay at the end of last night's RAW, so I'm not sure if they'll continue to get involved with what's going on between Clay and Big Show.

But I think that we need to see the WWE Tag Team Champions move on from Jack Swagger, Dolph Ziggler and Big Show to a feud with two of the WWE's other tag teams.

Darren Young and Titus O'Neil have made it pretty clear that they're going after the tag team titles, and they've only suffered one loss since moving to SmackDown.

Meanwhile, Epico and Primo still haven't gotten their rematch since dropping the WWE Tag Team Championship after Extreme Rules.

I'm not sure Epico and Primo will ever get that rematch (remember: Zack Ryder still hasn't gotten his US title rematch), but I obviously think they should, and I wouldn't mind seeing the Primetime Players involved as well.

The tag-team division is actually looking OK these days, but that needs to continue as we move forward.

A good way to do that would be to involve both Epico and Primo and Young and O'Neil in the tag-team title chase.

Randy Orton vs. Someone

4 of 7

Now that Chris Jericho has been suspended for 30 days, Randy Orton is left with absolutely nothing to do on SmackDown.

Although Orton is undoubtedly a top star, it seems like he's always the big name who gets the shaft these days, and it appears as if he'll be left without a match at No Way Out.

I know that Orton RKO'd The Miz on last night's RAW, but that likely wasn't the start of a feud. It was just the WWE's way of even further de-pushing The Miz.

I'd be shocked if those two started another rivalry because The Miz is basically a jobber these days, so I could see a situation where Orton is sort of just stuck in no man's land until Jericho returns.

That sucks.

Give Orton a rivalry, or at least give him a random quality wrestling match at No Way Out.

Intercontinental Championship: Christian (c) vs. Cody Rhodes

5 of 7

Although this match has yet to be announced, it's all but confirmed for No Way Out.

Cody Rhodes sat ringside for Christian's match against The Miz last night, and it's clear that Rhodes wants to win the Intercontinental Championship for the third time.

To do that, he'll have to face Christian, who beat him at Over the Limit in a surprise match that was announced that night.

Their match at Over the Limit wasn't great (good, but not great), but given who's involved here, I think that Rhodes and Christian could tear the house down at No Way Out.

The creative team actually has some time to build up this rivalry now, and the fans will be able to get even more behind Christian as a babyface.

We can ink this match in for No Way Out, and it could be the show-stealer.

Jack Swagger vs. Dolph Ziggler

6 of 7

I remember watching RAW last year and seeing what looked like the makings of a feud between Jack Swagger and Dolph Ziggler over the services of Vickie Guerrero.

Of course, that rivalry didn't happen then. But it looks like it may be happening now.

After Ziggler and Swagger lost another tag-team title match on last night's RAW, Ziggler walked away from Swagger and Vickie while saying, "I'm better than this!"

Indeed you are, Dolph. Indeed you are.

I've maintained for months now that it was time to split Ziggler away from Vickie and Swagger and let him go on his own as a singles competitor, and after what transpired on RAW, it certainly appears as if that's what's going on.

Unlike some others, I don't think either Ziggler or Swagger is turning face here. But that doesn't mean that they can't have a match to settle their differences.

Have Swagger vs. Ziggler in the ring, and let them go at it.

I don't care if some sort of stupid stipulation involving Vickie is added to the match. Just let two of the best pure wrestlers in the WWE do just that: wrestle.

WWE Championship: Daniel Bryan vs. CM Punk (c)

7 of 7

Daniel Bryan and CM Punk had another great match on RAW last night.

Are you really surprised by this? Of course not.

These two have already had a handful of fantastic matches with each other, and every time I see one, it makes me want to see another one.

Unfortunately for me (and millions of other fans), though, Kane keeps sticking his nose into this rivalry, and it looks like we're headed for a Triple-Threat Match.

I'd bank on that happening, but I really, really, really would prefer to see just Punk vs. Bryan at No Way Out.

Triple Threat Matches can be far too formulaic, especially with a big man involved, and I fear that Kane is going to continue to ruin what should be a one-on-one rivalry between the WWE's two best performers.

I'd love it even more if we got Bryan vs. Punk in a Submission Match at No Way Out between two of the WWE's top submission specialists.

Here's to holding out hope that creative wises up and gives us the match we want to see at No Way Out rather than the one it wants to have.
