Is Jesus Just Alright With Kurt Warner’s Fans?
One must assume that Kurt Warner would be lost without Jesus, who ironically shares a birthday with Santa Claus, but that’s another story.
Now that Warner's contract with the Arizona Cardinals has expried, we are hearing and reading ad nauseum, whether he will continue his career or not.
The reality is that if owner Bill Bidwill backed up the Brinks truck for Warner—none of this discussion would be ongoing. Warner would sign, he’d play at least through next season and more than likely another, and the Cardinals would achieve far less than they have this year (my money is that they don’t make the playoffs next season).
But no, for now we must listen to him ponder his future as he did this week to the Associated Press, and preach here and there about his spirituality.
“I’m going to weigh everything and I’m sure I’ll talk to the Cardinals and see what their plans are for the future,” which translates to if they pay me enough I’ll play two more seasons. Then he added, “When I get all the information I can sit back and pray about it and see what God leads me to do.”
I recently did the same thing when deciding between the Burger King Double Whopper with cheese and the Hardee’s two-thirds pound Monster Thickburger. God told me to have a chicken basil wrap nestled gently inside a whole wheat tortilla. I chose to ignore God and went with both the Thickburger and Whopper, with a side of bacon sauteed in butter.
Regardless, I’ve heard a lot of chatter both building up to, and now following, the Super Bowl. People tell me they want to root for Kurt Warner, but have trouble doing so because of all the God talk.
So we ask you to weigh in and give us your opinion on him, his allegiance with the Sith or any other Lord, whether he preaches too much, if it’s his wife that rubs you wrong or would you like her to rub you right, and whatever else you would like to attribute to the man.
But in short; does a player’s constant profession of love for his God make it hard for you to appreciate his talents?
Carry on.
