SEC Football Top 150 Players: No. 97, Uzoma Nwachukwu, Texas A&M WR
The SEC Blog will be counting down the top 150 players in the SEC every day, concluding on Aug. 30 at the start of the college football regular season.
No. 97: Uzoma Nwachukwu, No. 7, Texas A&M Wide Receiver
2011 stats: 50 catches for 639 yards and two touchdowns
Strengths
Nwachukwu gets lost a little bit due to the presence of Ryan Swope, but he's as good as they come in the SEC. The rising senior has 1,754 career receiving yards and 12 touchdowns, and should benefit from the arrival of Kevin Sumlin's air-raid offense. The 6'0", 194-pounder has track-star speed, and can be a big-time weapon for the Aggies.
Weaknesses
He's been inconsistent catching the ball during his first three years, and that won't fly in Sumlin and offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury's offense. He has the talent, and has enjoyed a fine career so far, but he hasn't reached his potential just yet.
2012 Prediction
A new head coach means that Nwachukwu will have to win the job all over again. Inconsistency won't be tolerated under the new regime. There will certainly be plenty of opportunities for Nwachukwu to shine in this new offense, so expect big numbers from him even if he isn't a solid No. 2 option behind Swope.
