Chelsea Transfer News: Hulk Would Be Perfect Fit for Blues

Chelsea and their fans are still celebrating their monumental win last Saturday, but now is the time to start planning for the future.

Ivory Coast star Drogba, fresh off solidifying himself as one of the best players the Blues have ever had the privilege of employing, revealed to the media this week that he’ll be departing Stamford Bridge.

That means the Blues need to find another striker, and while there are plenty of them available, there is one player that stands out above the rest for Chelsea.

Brazilian striker Hulk, aka Givanildo Vieira de Souza, has a strong interest in leaving Porto and playing for Chelsea, according to his agent Teodoro Fonseca (via the Daily Mirror):

We are open to talks with Chelsea at any time, any place. There is interest, but at the moment there is still nothing concrete. He likes the English Premier League a lot and Chelsea are a good club for Hulk.

"

This would a tremendous signing for the Blues.

At the age of 25, he is just reaching the peak of his career, and is coming off an outstanding year for Porto. The striker scored 21 goals in 38 games, and seems to still be improving.

Sheer strength and physicality are some of Hulk's best attributes, and he can shoot the ball with some incredible power as well. The one weakness of his game is his temper. It led to a brawl in a tunnel in a 2009 match, which led to a four-month ban. That being said, it seems like he has been able to control his temper in recent years and has learned to temper his emotions.

While landing Hulk is not going to come without throwing a ton of money in his direction, the Blues need to capitalize on his willingness to negotiate with the team.

While Fernando Torres has already been assured he’ll be the “main man” for next season, the Blues need another strong striker, and Hulk would be the perfect fit.
