Carolina Hurricanes Lose Heartbreaker in Vancouver

Alexandre Burrows for the Canucks scored a Shorthanded Breakaway goal with a little over a minute to play to lift the struggling Canucks over the Hurricanes. The Canucks stopped the Carolina powerplay in the last minute, after previously allowing two Powerplay goals in the game.

The Canucks played a gritty first period going up two goals after scoring a tip-in goal by Bieksa, and a goal by Ryan Kesler. The Canes came back in the second period scoring two goals in thirty seconds. However, Mats Sundin quickly turned things around with a veteran goal on the wrap around to end the second period.

The Canes immediately went on the attack scoring in the first minute of the third on a powerplay goal by Eric Staal. Two questionable calls killed Canes momentum after a tip-in goal by Brandon Sutter was called away after Ryan Bayda was called for Goaltender Interference.

And then again when Chad LaRose was pushed into the goalie and also called for Goaltender Interference. But late in the game the Canes pinched their defenseman up and a quick stick by Ryan Kesler pushed the puck up ice and Alexandre Burrows scored on the breakaway to give the Canucks the win.
