Ridiculous Rumor of the Day: Shaquille O'Neal on Orlando Magic GM Wishlist

Gabe ZaldivarJun 6, 2018

The Orlando Magic are considering Shaquille O'Neal for their vacancy at general manager, giving us the perfect opportunity to launch today's most ridiculous and insane tweet award.

Step right up Marc Stein, because you win the award.

To be fair, it's really not his fault, considering he was merely reporting what he heard his colleague Chris Broussard say on the air.

Via Marc Stein's Twitter feed:

My man @Chris_Broussard, on ESPN's NBA Countdown, just reported Shaq could meet next week w/Magic to talk about GM job. Yes, that @SHAQ

One of two things are at work here. Either someone is playing a massive joke on Broussard, or the Magic are really considering Shaquille O'Neal for a high-level position who would make key decisions in shaping the future of the Magic franchise.

Goodness, I hope it's the latter.

Do you understand that Shaq is far more hilarious as a general manager than he is on TNT's Inside the NBA?

I have no idea what Magic brass think makes Shaq a perfect candidate to run a team he once scorned to move to Hollywood.

I mean, it can't be his amazing work ethic.

Here are CBS Sports' thoughts on the matter:

Report: Shaquille O'Neal to meet with Magic about GM position - cbsprt.co/ShaqMagic. We've imagined @Shaq in many roles. This wasn't one.

Or we can go with the short but sweet tweet from Bleacher Report's very own feed:

FAIL "@ESPNSteinLine My man @Chris_Broussard, on ESPN's NBA Countdown, just reported Shaq could meet next week w/Magic to talk about GM job"

— Bleacher Report (@BleacherReport) May 23, 2012

Anyway you slice it, this is comic gold in waiting. Fingers are crossed that this is the direction the Magic have decided to go.

Follow me on Twitter and we can hope together.
