WWE: Why Christian Is the Most Underrated Wrestler on the WWE Roster Right Now

David LevinJun 6, 2018

So much to do, so much to see, so much to say.

Aren’t we all glad Christian is back in the WWE?

The veteran’s presence at Over the Limit, first by winning the Battle Royal and then forging a battle with Cody Rhodes and claiming the Intercontinental Title was a stroke of awesomeness.

And again, Christian is a major player in the WWE.

Of all the superstars we watch on a weekly basis, maybe it is Christian who is the most underrated and important to the success of the WWE in the future. While it may seem a little far-fetched, Christian’s “place” in the company is key, maybe more so than a John Cena or CM Punk, but the reasons are far more “internal” than one may think.

As a fan of the performer in the ring, whether he is winning the fans’ approval as a favorite or as a lead heel, Christian is everything the WWE needs…and here are the reasons why.

Whenever He Is on Camera, It Is "Must See Television"

Oh, let's go back to the days of fans who have the wonders of flash photography.

Christian is a breath of fresh air and whenever he is on screen, it is always something new. We never know what to expect.

While we know John Cena will stick to the script and Chris Jericho will tell everyone why he is the best at what he does, Christian lets his wrestling tell you that without words. But his mic skills are amazing as well.

He Could Help Revamp the Tag Team Division

While I like the idea of Kofi Kingston and R-Truth in the tag team division and Dolph Ziggler and Jack Swagger chasing them, Christian is a tag team specialist.

With new teams forming in the division and the need for more to come forward, Christian and someone like a Chris Jericho or another veteran would be awesome.

It's not Edge and Christian, but the superstar could help make things interesting.

Cody Rhodes Needs a Rival to Help Him Get over Again

Whether it is Cody Rhodes or Alberto Del Rio or even someone like Daniel Bryan, Christian helps them become even better.

And for Rhodes or someone else, that is a very good thing.

Christian works in the ring to make the match and the performer better. He sells for his opponents and they in turn (like CM Punk) will sell for him.

He is a throwback to the days when "wrestling" mattered.

He Makes the Intercontinental Title Relevant Again

I am not saying Cody Rhodes' reign as the champion for more than 230 days was weak, but when Rhodes held the title, it was at a point when it really did not matter in the eyes of the fans and in the eyes of the creative team.

Now with Christian a force who has already held the World Title, this could mean a resurrection for the once-proud "second" title in the WWE.

And talents like Rhodes, Mark Henry, maybe Wade Barrett when he comes back and even younger talent from CWF could make for a great match with the vet.

He Can Help New Stars Get over in the Company

This is the case of Christian, who can arguably be linked to the greats of the "Attitude Era," helping the newer stars further their careers.

The young talents will need direction. Christian can help with that. I think Christian is just as important to the company as Edge was, maybe not in terms of titles but in backstage "tutoring."

CM Punk, John Cena and Kane are all good at this. Christian is just as good.

He Is Still an Amazing Performer in the Ring

Every night, he still goes out and gives the fans everything he has.

He learned that from his days in Canada and his early start in the WWF.

Christian is an entertainer, but he is a wrestler first. Fans appreciate his effort and his ability to make the name on the marquee a realization.

He Is Still a Challenge for the World Title

And if he could claim the title again, he would work twice as hard to keep it.

Christian is an enigma in his own way. As a champion his role of "face" or "heel" is loved by the fans. It's a skill much of the current roster does not understand.

Because he can fill either role, his need in the company becomes that much greater.
