Pacquiao vs. Bradley: Why Pac-Man Will Completely Dominate Fight
Manny Pacquiao is a cut above Timothy Bradley and he will control their June 9 bout from start to finish.
Pac-Man is the current welterweight champion and has spent years in the spotlight going up against the best competition the sport has to offer, aside from Floyd Mayweather Jr.
Bradley, in contrast, has yet to go up against any big-name fighters and is just now entering his 15 minutes of fame.
Supporters of the challenger claim that the 28-year-old’s youth is an advantage against the 33-year-old champ, but this is not true.
Bradley is in the midst of his prime as fighter, but just starting out as a top-level contender. His inexperience in big fights will be a big disadvantage.
His youth may give him a slight edge in speed and conditioning, but Pacquiao’s quickness and workout regimens are legendary. As the Los Angeles Times notes, Pacquiao's workouts for past fights included running up to the Hollywood sign, intense boxing workouts and basketball games.
If Bradley is the faster and fitter fighter, the difference between the two will be negligible.
Another area where Pacquiao has a major advantage is power. The champ packs a lot more into his punches than his challenger does.
Bradley may be undefeated at 28-0 in his career, but only 12 of the fights were won by knockout. Pacquiao is 54-3-2, but has 38 knockouts in his career.
With 10 more knockouts than Bradley has wins, the power advantage goes to Pac-Man by a considerable margin.
Jeff Mayweather, Floyd’s uncle and a former lightweight fighter, also believes that Bradley does not have enough behind his punches to beat Pacquiao. He said via Filipino news outlet ABS-CBN News, “I don’t think Bradley has the punching power to prevail,” he said. “That might be the reason he doesn’t win.”
Pacquiao has experience and power working in his favor. There may be times that Bradley looks faster, but Pac-Man is still extremely quick with his punches.
The champ has too much going for him in this matchup, and the result of this fight will never be in doubt.
