WWE News: Big Update Plans for Seasons 5 and 6 of WWE NXT

Drake OzJun 7, 2018

The WWE recently made a major change to its program when it was announced that NXT would begin taping its show at Full Sail University.

Since its inception in 2010, NXT has been taped on Tuesdays along with SmackDown, so moving it elsewhere has been seen as a huge move both internally and by fans alike.

The WWE actually had its first set of NXT tapings at Full Sail last week, leading many to believe that that would spark the end of NXT filming on the road along with SmackDown

But NXT is still shooting on the road with SmackDown, which has some fans wondering what’s going on with the WWE’s C-show.

Well, we have a major update on the future of NXT

From PWTorch.com

"

The current plan right now is for WWE to continue taping NXT Season 5 (Redemption season) at the Smackdown tapings to air online on Wednesdays. The start of a re-branded Season 6 was taped last week at Full Sail University. WWE will continue taping NXT5 at the weekly Smackdown tapings until finding a new TV home for NXT6.

"

The WWE finds itself in a unique scenario here because the company already filmed four episodes of the rebranded Season 6 of NXT last week at Full Sail, using a roster that looks almost entirely different from the current NXT one.

We saw more than 30 new NXT talents at those tapings, which means that we’re going to get a ton of new superstars on the WWE’s revamped version of its WWE.com show.

The problem, however, is that NXT is relegated to WWE.com and doesn’t have anywhere near the viewing audience that it would on TV. Thus, it’s absolutely imperative that WWE finds NXT a TV home as soon as possible.

Why? Because you don’t want to have so many NXT Season 6 episodes taped before they actually air that it puts the WWE in a pickle.

What if the WWE starts a storyline with someone on RAW or SmackDown after they first started a different storyline on NXT

That will be a very real possibility if the WWE sits on NXT Season 6 for several months because it doesn’t have a spot on TV.

The WWE may find itself in a situation where it’s still taping NXT Season 5 along with SmackDown and has eight or 12 NXT Season 6 episodes taped, but has no new TV home for NXT Season 6.

Hopefully, it won’t come to this for the WWE.

But with no noise about NXT potentially making its way to TV, I wouldn’t be surprise if WWE finds its back against the wall with too much content and no place to air it other than WWE.com.
