Pacquiao vs Bradley: What Bradley Must Do to Control SuperFight
If he fights the perfect fight on June 9th at the MGM Grand, Timothy Bradley can beat the heavily favored Manny Pacquiao.
To do this, he is going to have to control the fight. He can't let PacMan fight his fight. Manny is far too powerful for Bradley to handle in that case.
Here are some things Desert Storm can do to stay in control of the bout.
Keep Moving
Bradley moves very well in the ring. He needs to stay mobile. He absolutely does not want to get in a toe-to-toe slugfest with Manny.
Circling to left and right of Manny's punches will be key. Pacquiao has struggled with counter punchers (see Juan Manuel Marquez). While counter punching is not one of Bradley's biggest strengths, he will be wise to utilize it in this bout.
Bradley will definitely want to focus on circling to his right. This will help him avoid Manny's big left, and it will give him some openings to land his decently powerful right hand.
Accuracy with the Jab
Bradley has great hand speed. It's been a while since Manny has faced an opponent with this kind of hand speed.
He needs to utilize this consistently with his jab, and when he throws his jab, he will want to make sure they are accurate.
Otherwise, PacMan will have an opening to do some damage. Landing the jab will also lead to creating some openings for some quick flourishes.
Extend the Fight
These are two of the best conditioned boxers in the sport. However, Manny is 33, and he has had problems with shin splints in recent bouts.
Bradley has to hope he has an edge in stamina, and he must try to exploit that by getting this fight into the later rounds—where he will hopefully have a chance to do some damage.
