WWE Rumors: John Cena, Big Show, Ric Flair and Tuesday's Top WWE News

Adam WellsJun 1, 2018

When John Cena wants to be real and make matches seem important, he is the best performer that WWE has. He showed that last night on Raw, at least to some extent, by being genuinely angry about his loss to John Laurinaitis, and at Big Show for costing him the match.

Things were not perfect with his promo—namely his explanation about why he didn't just finish Laurinaitis—but all things considered, when you get Cena caring, it's usually going to be a win.

Now we know what the main event of No Way Out will be, with Show and Cena battling one-on-one. Once again, the WWE championship doesn't get top billing on a pay-per-view.

Way to keep that title looking strong.

Ranting aside, here is the latest news and notes from behind the scenes in the wacky world of professional wrestling.

JOHN CENA VS. BIG SHOW...IN A STEEL CAGE?

We talked about this match in the intro, but it turns out that WWE might have a little something extra in store for Big Show and John Cena at No Way Out. Namely, there are rumors they could be locked inside a steel cage to settle their long-standing four-week rivalry.

Question on Everybody's Mind: Will WWE follow through with the cage?

Our Take: Considering it wasn't announced on last night's show, I would say it's doubtful at this point. Of course, WWE does have three weeks left to change its mind. With the way Vince McMahon books, you could just turn on the event and there is a cage hanging over the ring.

Hype Meter: 5 out of 5 Gimmick Matches

Remember when a cage was used to settle a long feud that needed a definitive winner after months of back and forth between two stars? Now, you can just put two people in a match with a gimmick, no strings attached.

RIC FLAIR ON HIS WAY BACK TO WWE?

Ric Flair's TNA tenure has apparently ended after he just stopped showing up for events. This could be news for WWE, as there are rumblings of a "legendary name" and TNA star looking to return to WWE.

Question on Everybody's Mind: Is Flair really worth the money he will cost WWE?

Our Take: Flair's legacy is as strong as any performer in wrestling history. That said, he would only be looking to return because he is so desperate for the money. Triple H loves Flair, so it's possible that he could get some kind of legends deal, but hopefully he never wrestles again.

Hype Meter: 5 out of 5 Colorful Robes

Another factor that could play into Flair's decision is his daughter Ashley, who recently signed a development deal with WWE. There are a lot of moving parts here, and we will keep you updated on the situation as it progresses.

THE REVOLUTION IS COMING, STARRING MATT MORGAN

In the latest "Revolution" video released by WWE, former WWE star and soon-to-be free agent Matt Morgan was featured in a close-up shot. There has been a lot of speculation about what these videos mean, and this is our first definitive hint about who it could be.

Question on Everybody's Mind: Is Morgan a good fit for WWE?

Our Take: In the eyes of Vince McMahon, absolutely. He is a big man who has the intimidating presence he loves so much. For fans, Morgan is not going to mean much. He can't wrestle and is not a very good talker. Other than that, he is solid gold.

Hype Meter: 3 out of 5 Disappointing Debuts

It is entirely possible that Morgan is just being used as a decoy for someone else to debut. WWE loves to throw swerves at the fans, if for no other reason than for McMahon to sit at his computer and laugh at how stupid everyone was for thinking they could outsmart him.

CODY RHODES TAKING "TIME OFF"

In a move that could explain why he lost at Over The Limit, Cody Rhodes posted this two-word Twitter message:

"

Time off.

"
"— Cody Rhodes (@CodyRhodesWWE) May 21, 2012"

Question on Everybody's Mind: What's wrong with Cody Rhodes?

Our Take: It doesn't seem like anything is physically wrong. He wasn't beaten up so badly that it looked like he was being written off television. It could just be a series of nagging injuries that a couple of weeks off will help cure.

Hype Meter: 4 out of 5 Second-Generation Stars

It really is a shame what WWE has been doing with Rhodes since WrestleMania. He has a lot of potential, but for whatever reason the company has decided that it wants to use him as a jobber for anyone it wants.
