WWE over the Limit Results: Big Show to Face John Cena at No Way Out?

Drake OzJun 7, 2018

As soon as last week’s episode of Monday Night RAW ended, it became pretty clear that Big Show would interfere in the Over the Limit main event, attack John Cena and help John Laurinaitis save his job.

Much to the surprise of no one, that’s exactly what happened last night.

What’s not as clear, though, is exactly what’s going on with Big Show. Sure, he interfered on Laurinaitis’ behalf, but he has yet to get a chance to explain his actions.

Show will get that chance on tonight’s RAW, and as you might expect, what goes down will probably lead to Show vs. Cena in the near future.

Another development that goes hand in hand with this is that John Cena vs. The Big Show is almost certain for WWE No Way Out in June. There has been talk of a stipulation added to this match. Do not be surprised if Cena and Big Show face off inside of a Steel Cage, as this would go with the concept of "No Way Out."

It’s really hard to tell exactly where this feud is headed because there area plenty of different directions that the creative team can take it.

Here are the three most likely options (in my opinion, of course):

  1. It’s revealed that Big Show and Laurinaitis were in cahoots together the entire time. Although this storyline has a lot of logical holes, it wouldn’t surprise me if it happened because, well, because WWE storylines tend to have a lot of logical holes.
  2. Big Show gets rehired by Laurinaitis on tonight’s RAW and becomes the unwilling henchman to the RAW GM. Sort of like what happened with Cena and the Nexus in 2010, Show stays face and, although he works for Laurinaitis, he does so only so that he can have a job. Show will spend most of his time regretfully doing things that Laurinaitis forces him to do, but he never actually goes heel.
  3. The same as above, but instead of staying face, Show starts enjoying what he’s doing and eventually turns full-fledged heel.

There are other options, of course, and could certainly be minor tweaks to the angles above, but I think these are the most likely.

In fact, I’ll say that I expect Show’s heel turn to be a gradual one, even though I think he will indeed face Cena at No Way Out in a face vs. face match.

Something will happen either during the match itself or leading up to it that will ultimately lead to Big Show going crazy on Cena and turning heel at No Way itself.

I don’t think we’re going to get a full-fledged heel turn from Big Show tonight, but I do think it’s going to happen.

So, booking Cena vs. Show at No Way Out and having it happen there could work.
