NBA Playoffs 2012: Los Angeles Lakers vs. Oklahoma City Thunder, Game 5 Odds
The Los Angeles Lakers (5-6) and Oklahoma City Thunder (7-1) will continue their best-of-seven Western Conference semifinal series on Monday night inside Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City, with the opening tip scheduled for 9:30 ET on TNT.
Las Vegas oddsmakers have established the Thunder as eight-point home favorites, with the total moving up a half point to settle in at 192.
Los Angeles is in serious danger of being eliminated from the 2012 NBA playoffs considering the franchise is 4-12 all-time in Game 5 when trailing 3-1 in a best-of-seven postseason series. The Lakers were unable to hold a 10-point halftime lead in suffering a 103-100 setback in Game 4 as two-point home underdogs on Saturday night.
Kobe Bryant scored 74 combined points in the last two games in front of the home crowd at Staples Center, but he was limited to a pair of 20-point performances in dropping the first two games of this series inside tonight's venue.
The Lakers will need more from the five-time champion offensively, especially when you consider their 0-5 straight-up record when playing as a road underdog of 6.5 to nine points this season. Two of those setbacks occurred in Game 1 and 2 in this series.
Oklahoma City is focused on reaching the Western Conference Finals for the second consecutive year, especially with stars Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook playing at a very high level. The dynamic duo finished with 68 points in Game 4, with Westbrook leading the way with 37 points on 15-of-26 shooting.
The Thunder will likely advance past the Lakers due to their perfect 7-0 mark this year when playing at home where the total is between 190 and 194.5 points.
It's the end of the road for Los Angeles—in a series filled with missed opportunities.
Prediction: Oklahoma City Thunder 106, Los Angeles Lakers 94
