Brooke Hogan TNA: Wrestling Promotion Shows Desperation Hiring Hulk's Daughter

Adam WellsJun 1, 2018

If there was ever any doubt about Hulk Hogan's power over Dixie Carter and the people who run TNA, as well as that company's desperation to do whatever it can to make a dent in the national consciousness, all you have to do is look at the hiring of Brooke Hogan for confirmation.

TNA issued a press release on Thursday, saying that Brooke Hogan would be in charge of the Knockouts Division and not wrestling for the company.

"

In addition to overseeing the traditional duties of the Knockouts Division, Brooke will bring a new energy and direction to the role working with the girls in a variety of capacities.

This isn't the first time Hulk has been able to get his daughter work with a wrestling promotion. Brooke was involved in her father's angle with Randy Orton before SummerSlam in 2006, which was used as a way to draw publicity for her album that was being released.

While you have to respect this company for trying to do something to make people look past its failures as an actual wrestling promotion, this is just another instance where TNA goes for the name rather than trying to build its own product.

TNA does a lot of infuriating things due to the complete lack of direction from the creative team and the people it has put in power. In addition to Hulk Hogan, you have Eric Bischoff and a lot of people who were overseeing the death of WCW in charge of the ship with TNA.

It's really a shame that someone like Brooke Hogan, who has no background in wrestling besides having a father named Hulk Hogan, is being put in a prominent position because TNA thinks it is going to help move the needle and improve the Knockouts Division.

First, Brooke doesn't have enough of a name to get TNA to do more than its usual 1.0-1.1 television rating. Second, she is not a wrestler, so what is she supposed to teach these women who have been trained as wrestlers?

TNA just can't get out of its own way. They have a deep roster with a ton of talent that gets misused or not used at all because they aren't the kind of performers that Hogan and Bischoff like.

Brooke Hogan could turn out to be the best thing that has ever happened to TNA, but you will forgive me if I have serious doubts about what she is actually going to do for this company.
