Brooke Hogan to TNA: Hiring Hulk Hogan's Daughter Ensures Second-Tier Status

Tim DanielsJun 1, 2018

The ultimate goal of TNA should be to challenge WWE's professional wrestling supremacy after a slow, steady rise. But the hiring of Brooke Hogan shows why the company will never become more than a second-tier promotion.

Brooke will take over as an executive in the Knockouts division, according to TNAWrestlingNews.com. The hiring coincides with the company's decision to start doing live Impact Wrestling shows starting in the summer.

So it's one step up and one step back. Aside from watching her father's legendary career, Brooke Hogan doesn't have any experience in the sports entertainment business, making it a weird personnel choice to say the very least.

If TNA was counting on Brooke Hogan's star power to generate more interest in the show, they are seriously overestimating her ability to draw an audience. A failed reality show proved she doesn't have the ability to make anybody, let alone a niche audience like wrestling fans, care.

It's far more likely that it's simply a case of nepotism. The elder Hogan has a lot of influence within the company, so if he wanted his daughter to get signed it would be hard for anybody to tell him no. They can't risk losing one of their biggest stars.

While it probably doesn't seem like a major concern since Brooke's role still hasn't been fully defined, if she has any impact at all it will be a mistake. When a smaller company like TNA is trying to go up against a powerhouse like WWE, everything has to go over flawlessly.

Any problems are magnified, and there's a pretty good chance there will be issues if Brooke Hogan plays any type of major role within the Knockouts division.

TNA has actually done a nice job of making the Knockouts an important part of the company, something the WWE has continuously failed to do with its Divas. That's one of the few areas where Impact Wrestling can actually outshine its competition.

Decisions like hiring Brooke Hogan are why the company will always remain well behind WWE, and make it seem like everybody involved with the show like they have come to accept it.

All fans can do is hope she isn't given much power.
