Texas Football: Are the Aggies Really Beating the Longhorns in Recruiting?

Michael FelderJun 7, 2018

Texas A&M fans long postured that their move to the SEC would give them the boost in recruiting that they were looking for, and it most certainly appears to be true.

The Aggies have 15 commitments, most of which are high caliber players looking to contribute to head coach Kevin Sumlin's squad quickly. Texas A&M is beating down the door for kids in the Lone Star state and for the Longhorns, that is not a familiar occurrence.

However, Texas is not sitting and merely taking a beating. The boys in burnt orange have gone out and corralled fourteen recruits and are hot on the trail of several big names.

Tyrone Swoopes at the quarterback position is a heck of a ball player, who should add an extra element to the Longhorns' offense. The 'Horns also have some wide receivers coming in that should be dynamic threats. Throw in the big offensive line recruits who are in the boat and it is clear, Mack Brown and staff are still a force in recruiting.

Myself and Barrett Sallee from the SEC Blog debate this very issue as the Aggies are pushing to pass the Longhorns and the 'Horns look to remain top dog in the Lone Star state.
