The Top 5 WWE Superstars of the Last 10 Years

Nate ScacciaJun 1, 2018

Welcome to the fifth edition of The Top 5. If you missed the last edition, you can check it out at this link.

In this edition, I will break down the top five superstars of the last 10 years. I am sure that this list will spark debate and controversy, and I encourage all of you to voice your opinions in the comment section.

Triple H

1 of 6

Triple H has had a long career in the WWE.

The past 10 years have been successful for him, as he has won four WWE Championships and become the first World Heavyweight Champion in 2002.

Triple H has held the World Heavyweight Championship five times in the past decade.

Since 2002, Triple H has had memorable feuds with Shawn Michaels, Goldberg and The Undertaker. Triple H also helped create the group Evolution.

Triple H would re-form the group DX with longtime friend Shawn Michaels, and the two would drive Vince McMahon and his son Shane crazy for months.

Recently, Triple H has been involved in feuds with The Undertaker. He has had two chances at breaking the streak in the last 10 years but he has failed each time.

Today, Triple H has climbed the mountain of the WWE corporate ladder. He is now the Chief Operating Officer of the WWE.

Randy Orton

2 of 6

Randy Orton has been through a lot in the last 10 years.

Over that time, he has been involved in the successful faction Evolution with fellow members Triple H, Ric Flair and Batista.

After he became the youngest world champion in WWE history, the group made him an outcast. This, however, was just the beginning for Orton.

Orton would establish himself as the "Legend Killer." Week in and week out, Orton would destroy one of the WWE's top legends.

Orton would have big-time matches with The Undertaker and Hulk Hogan during this time.

Orton then transitioned to the tag-team circuit with Edge. Together they formed Rated RKO. The group was successful and dominated the tag division and singles competition as well. Each man would help the other win at any cost.

Perhaps Orton's best feud was with John Cena in 2007 and 2008. The two men would engage in great matches and would really show off their talent. It was during this feud that Orton won his first WWE Championship. Orton would go on to form the group Legacy with members Ted Dibiase and Cody Rhodes.

Today, Orton is a fan favorite and is really the No. 2 face of the company behind John Cena.

Over the past 10 years, Randy Orton has won the World Heavyweight Championship three times and the WWE Championship six times. Orton also won the Royal Rumble in 2009.

Edge

3 of 6

Over the last 10 years, Edge has made a name for himself in the WWE.

In the process of doing so, Edge has also gained the fans' utmost respect.

When Edge first came to the WWE, not many people thought he could make it in the business. He did not have the typical "superstar" look.

But that did not stop Edge. Over the last 10 years, Edge has won the World Heavyweight Championship seven times. He has also won the WWE Championship four times.

Edge has also established himself as a great tag-team wrestler, teaming with Christian and Randy Orton at different stages of his career.

Over the last decade, Edge would feud with some of the best superstars the WWE had to offer. His matches with John Cena and The Undertaker will certainly be remembered for a long time.

Edge retired at the top. He made it in a business where many thought he would not succeed.

The Undertaker

4 of 6

You cannot make a top five list of superstars without including The Undertaker.

What more needs to be said besides his undefeated streak and his uncanny ability to strike fear into his opponents?

Over the past 10 years, Undertaker has continued his undefeated WrestleMania streak, and it now stands at 20-0.

Over the past decade, Undertaker would take on the likes of The Rock, Brock Lesnar, Batista, Edge, Randy Orton, Shawn Michaels and Triple H.

Undertaker has won the World Heavyweight Championship three times and the WWE Championship once in the last 10 years.

John Cena

5 of 6

No superstar has had a bigger impact on the WWE in the last 10 years than John Cena.

Not only is he the face of the company, but he is the face of the business as well.

Cena has inspired a league of faithful followers to join CeNation and has coined such phrases as "you can't see me," "hustle loyalty respect" and "rise above hate."

John Cena is a role model for children everywhere inside and outside of the ring.

Cena also donates his time to a number of charities across the country, most notably the Make A Wish Foundation. Cena is the Make A Wish Foundation's No. 1 wish granter to date.

Cena has feuded with countless superstars. Among the best are Edge, Randy Orton, Triple H, The Undertaker and The Rock.

John Cena has won the World Heavyweight Championship twice and the WWE Championship an astounding 10 times in the past decade.

I am not a fan of John Cena the WWE superstar. But you have to respect what he has done for the WWE and professional wrestling.

John Cena truly is the top superstar of the past decade.
