Latest World Football Transfer Gossip: Ibrahimovic, Drogba, Guardiola, Nani, Etc

Peter WebsterMay 18, 2012

Usually people either love or hate the summer transfer window.

The speculation—at times—can be ridiculous, and the fees preposterous.

In fact, the only thing that isn't overinflated is the hype and conversations it generates among football fans.

With some players having the chance to showcase themselves in Euro 2012 and the London 2012 Olympics this summer, here are the latest gossip picks on who is rumoured to be moving on.

Robin van Persie

1 of 10

I know, I know, I know.

Everyone is sick of reading about Robin van Persie's contract scenario with Arsenal.

The fact is that this has now been rumbling on for almost as long as the Tevez saga and there's no end in sight for the Van Persie gravy train.

Juventus, Manchester City, Real Madrid, Manchester United, Barcelona? It's anybody's guess.

Fernando Llorente

2 of 10

Manchester City are set to activate Fernando Llorente's release clause in his contract with an offer of €36 million, according to talkSPORT.

The Spanish striker has been in excellent form this season and would be a huge loss to Athletic Bilbao.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic

3 of 10

Manchester City have also been linked with AC Milan striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic as a summer recruit.

Ibrahimovic—30—has notched 28 goals in the league this season in Serie A and could command a wage fee of £300,000 per week.

The transfer fee being mooted is £25 million, with Carlos Tevez or Mario Balotelli possibly heading in the other direction.

Kenny Dalglish Replacement

4 of 10

Following the sacking of Kenny Dalglish earlier this week, Liverpool Football Club have reportedly already begun to interview potential replacements.

Roberto Martinez, Andres Villas-Boas, Brendan Rogers, Fabio Capello and now Pep Guardiola have all been mentioned as possibilities

Guardiola would be seen as the ultimate coup.

Nani

5 of 10

Just as Nani seemed to be becoming a major piece of the Manchester United jigsaw, he is once again seemingly deemed as disposable under manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

Ferguson has shown his ruthless streak by putting Dimitar Berbatov up for sale already and is now wrangling with Nani over a new contract deal.

Manchester United are believed to be offering Nani wages in the region of £130,000 a week but will list the player for sale at £30 million if he attempts to negotiate.

Didier Drogba

6 of 10

At one point it seemed Didier Drogba was surplus to requirements at Chelsea under the reign of Andre Villas-Boas. Oh how things change in football.

Drogba is now apparently of interest to Barcelona with a two-year deal in the offing from the Catalan club.

Drogba is out of contract in the summer and will be able to move for free under the Bosman ruling.

Emmanuel Adebayor

7 of 10

Before I start, I have to clarify that the above picture is actually Emmanuel Adebayor's hair and not a lesser-spotted red squirrel nesting on his head.

"Ade"—as Harry Redknapp likes to refer to him—would clearly like to commit his future to Tottenham Hotspur but claims that any deal is in the hands of someone other than him.

Adebayor has two years left on his Manchester City contract and is currently earning £170,000 a week in wages.

Luis Suarez to Follow Dalglish?

8 of 10

Following the sacking of Kenneth Dalglish, Luis Suarez is the latest player to be linked with a move away from the club.

With a reported comment made to Spanish media, Suarez apparently declared his intention to one day play in La Liga.

The gossip-mongerers may be circling around Liverpool for the foreseeable future.

Ezequiel Lavezzi

9 of 10

Paris Saint-Germain could secure a deal for Napoli and Argentina striker Ezequiel Lavezzi by as soon as this weekend, according to talkSPORT.

Lavezzi is thought to be of extreme interest to Manchester City and has a reported release clause in his contract of £26.6 million.

Nelson Oliviera

10 of 10

Chelsea and Barcelona are believed to be battling it out to sign Benfica youngster Nelson Oliveira.

The 20-year-old Portuguese international striker has had an excellent season domestically, catching the eye of multiple scouts in the process.

No transfer fee has been discussed yet.
