Liverpool Transfer News: Firing Kenny Dalglish Proves Reds Will Make Bold Moves

Adam WellsJun 7, 2018

To say that Liverpool had a rough Premier League season would be an understatement. The once-dominant Reds have never looked as vulnerable as they do right now, and drastic steps must be taken to turn their fortunes around in a hurry.

Fortunately, Liverpool appears ready to make those moves this summer. The changes started on Wednesday, with the firing of manager Kenny Dalglish. It was a bold step to take, simply because he is such a beloved icon in Liverpool history.

Still, there is no room for loyalty in sports, especially when you are fading as fast as Liverpool is. This squad isn't even close to the top of the heap in the Premier League, so it could very well be a slow rebuilding process.

Even Liverpool legend Dietmar Hamann has been quoted as saying that this summer's transfer window is vital to the long-term success of this football club.

"

But now it's a vital summer for the football club to make the right calls, because it's now three years running [that Liverpool have not finished in the Champions League places] and obviously the longer you go without any Champions League, the further you fall behind.

The best players won’t come to your club and you probably can’t afford them anyway because there is so much money in the Champions League.

"

While the Champions League money is critical to any club's success in the transfer window, Liverpool understands that now is the time to act, and bold steps will be taken to ensure that what we saw this EPL season does not happen again.

The summer transfer window has to be dominated by Liverpool. One move isn't going to fix all of the problems this squad has right now. Ownership has to put its money where its mouth is, and the only way to do that is prove its commitment to winning.

Liverpool has backed itself into a corner with its constant failures on and off the field. Now is the time to start the healing process and get back to being one of the best and most feared squads in the world.

Dalglish's ouster was just the beginning of what is going to be a busy transfer season for the Reds.
