Manchester United Transfer News: Shinji Kagawa Is Perfect Midfielder for United

Borussia Dortmund's playmaking star Shinji Kagawa is the perfect midfielder for Manchester United to bring to Old Trafford during the transfer window this summer.

According to Soccernet, the Japanese star has already met with United manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

This information comes after the German club said they were told Kagawa would not sign a new contract after his current deal expires next season.

"I had a meeting with his agent yesterday morning and Shinji Kagawa has informed us that he will definitely not be extending his contract,'' Dortmund director of sport Michael Zorc told Bild.

"Should we now receive offers for Kagawa, then we will consider and negotiate them.''

United desperately need a player in the midfield who can create scoring chances for the forwards and add some scoring of his own. Kagawa had 13 goals and eight assists in league play this season.

Paul Scholes cannot be the maestro in the Red Devils midfield forever, and young star Tom Cleverley is not a world-class player yet.

The German Bundesliga isn't on the same level talent-wise as the Premier League, but it's one of the toughest leagues in Europe to win.

Kagawa's brilliance in the midfield was one of the key reasons why Dortmund were able to finish ahead of Bayern Munich and win the Bundesliga this season. Dortmund also defeated Munich in the German league cup, where Kagawa opened the scoring in the third minute en route to a 5-2 cup victory for his club.

Kagawa's experience of winning trophies would certainly help him get accustomed to English football if he comes to United.

With his combination of playmaking and creative talent, in addition to his trophy-winning experience, Kagawa is the perfect transfer target for Manchester United this summer.

He would be a major upgrade to the club's midfield and help address a major weakness that the squad must improve before next season.
