Mike Francesa: Grumpy Old New York Radio Legend Wants Twitter Outlawed
Oh, Mike Francesa, you say the damnedest things.
The grumpy old man who is a radio legend in New York would like it very much if you stayed off his virtual lawn. Francesa has signaled the one bane in society that needs to be done away with.
It's Twitter.
Not only does he find fault with the ever-growing ubiquity of tweets, he finds the practice to be illegal. At least, he feels it should be against the law.
Grandpa is being rather silly today.
Sports Illustrated's Jimmy Traina clued us all into the bizarre story of the day, featuring Francesa going on a rant about Twitter and social media.
In short, he is against Twitter so much that he feels it should be outlawed. Here is the best and most encompassing tweet from Traina that includes the two videos of Francesa getting his word in.
"OK, here are the 2 videos of Mike Francesa talking Twitter, in case you missed one: twitvid.com/NPW1N & twitvid.com/E25QD
— Jimmy Traina (@JimmyTraina) May 15, 2012"
I encourage you to click on the links and give the videos a watch because they are adorable.
You will definitely get a tad bit frustrated though, so be warned. This is like getting a call from your dad asking you to describe what that, "Twitter website" is all about, or to explain "Facepage."
It's clear that Francesa doesn't understand Twitter or it's value. I won't debate the legality of it or freedom of speech because his claim is just too ridiculous to take seriously.
At one point, he asks if you have to pay to tweet. It's at that point that we can dismiss this whole thing as one man not knowing what the hell he is talking about.
This isn't the first rant we have heard from Francesa. Here is a video from a couple years back featuring a discussion on technology and how he just doesn't get any of it.
Well, Francesa. The times are not changing—They have changed.
We will keep you around though because these rants are just too damn good.
Follow me on that infernal Twitter machine.
