How Did This Weekend Shape Up The Premier League Title Race?
On Saturday, Premier League leaders Manchester United beat Everton 1-0, this opened up a five-point lead over Chelsea and Liverpool who are in second and third place respectively. Yesterday saw Manchester United take three points against Everton, Arsenal drew 0-0 against West Ham and Aston Villa (who if they won, could have gone into second place) drew 0-0 with Wigan.
Today, Liverpool and Chelsea fought it out at Anfield and it was Liverpool who came out on top with two late goals. The main talking point which came out of the game was the Frank Lampard sending off, it wasn't a sending off, it wasn't even a freekick, but I'm not going to get into that. After the two-nil loss, are Chelsea still in the title race?

The quick and easy answer to that question is: Yes, of course they are. I personally feel that Chelsea will finish second after Manchester United. I don't feel that not much has changed in the title race this weekend. Yes, Man United and Liverpool won whilst Chelsea lost and Arsenal and Aston Villa drew. It hasn't really changed much.
If Liverpool want to win the Premier League title, then Rafa Benitez needs to change his ways. Benitez plays not to lose which is why Liverpool draw so much. If Liverpool is going to win it, then they have to play to win.
Manchester United are in a fantastic position but many are saying that they have already won it. That is not the case. Yes, United will be maybe two points ahead of Liverpool with a game in hand, but it is only February. Titles are not won in February. United still have to play Liverpool, Arsenal and Aston Villa at home as well as some other great teams. The title race is far from over.
Chelsea may have lost today, but their title challenge is far from over. Chelsea have had a blip in their season, and they will get over it. Chelsea have world-class players and they will sort it out. I believe that they are still Man United's main title challengers.
I'm sorry to all Arsenal fans; Arsenal have no chance of winning the Premier League. They are too far behind. If they have won against West Ham yesterday, then I would have given them a bit more of a chance. After drawing, I think they have no chance. There is always next season.
Aston Villa are also a team who have no chance of winning the title. I would love to see Villa finish in the top four and qualify for Champion's League places. Their squad isn't strong enough (yet) to win the Premier League.
There is a long way to go, and I cannot wait to see what twists and turns happen on the way. .......Read more at Man United Devils blog
