Manchester City vs. QPR: Blues Prove They Are Building a Dynasty

On Sunday, Manchester City took what will prove to be the first of many big titles, when they scored a miraculous two goals in extra time to beat QPR and secure the EPL title. 

This is their first Premier League crown in 44 long years. They will not have to wait 44 more for another. 

They will have to deal with their bitter rivals and longtime EPL kings, Manchester United to accomplish this, which is certainly no easy task. 

United has seen other clubs come up with promise and steal an EPL title, but they have battled back to regain control.

However, this City squad is different. 

Roberto Mancini

None of this is new ground for City's manager Roberto Mancini. He was in a similar position at Serie A with Inter Milan. A fact he didn't mind pointing out himself.

"I won Inter their first title for 20 years. We began with the Italian Cup, then we continued for four years - seven trophies. Could I repeat that here? Maybe we can do better," Mancini said, as quoted by Soccernet.

This experience cannot be discounted. He knows what it takes to create prolonged greatness. That is something that escapes many up-and-comers. 

It is natural for a group to relax a bit after achieving such a lofty goal. It takes the right infusion of new blood and energy to keep the team collectively hungry and Mancini knows how to do this. 

He is not going to be content with one title, and that hunger for greatness will permeate throughout the team. 

Full Commitment 

To build a dynasty, it takes much more than collecting one solid group of players. Players change; they will find new teams, suffer a decrease in pace and form, or walk away from the game altogether. 

City has realized this, and they have made a huge investment in youth development. They are bringing players up through the Manchester City Academy and prepping them for elite-level play. This will pay lasting dividends. 

To help with the training and lure in top-flight talent, City has plans to build a state-of-the-art training compound. 

This has hit a few snags along the way, but they and their deep-pocketed owner will eventually get this done. 

City is in the middle of enjoying one of the greatest moments in club history, and it is clear that there are many more to come.
