Liverpool Transfer News: Dempsey, Bent, Krasic and More Stars Linked to Reds

Liverpool didn't make the Champions League for next season, but they have a number of talented players to build their squad around going forward.

However, the Reds will need to bring in some reinforcements through the summer transfer window to bolster the team for the Premier League next season.

Let's look at four stars recently linked with a move to Merseyside that would be good fits at Anfield.

Clint Dempsey

The best American player in the world had a wonderful season at Fulham, and according to the Daily Mail, Liverpool are one of the club's interested in Clint Dempsey's services.

With Steven Gerrard and Charlie Adam battling injuries, Liverpool need some more depth in the midfield. Dempsey is a proven midfielder with strong attacking skills and the ability to score goals.

Adding an American star to their squad would help the Reds' appeal in the United States, especially when you consider the new ownership group is American and have marketed the club in the states in places such as Boston.

Darren Bent

The Aston Villa striker has battled injury in recent months, but reports have linked him with a possible summer move to Liverpool.

Bent has lots of Premier League experience, and would give the Reds a much needed goalscorer on the attack. He scored nine goals this season for Villa.

Liverpool didn't score many goals this season, and need to find another top-tier striker if they wish to challenge for a top-four finish in the league next year.

Bent would be a smart, safe and likely inexpensive transfer for the Anfield club.

Milos Krasic

Juventus finally returned to the summit of Italian football this season by winning the Serie A title and earning a return to Champions League football next year.

However, Milos Krasic is reportedly willing to leave the club during the summer transfer window and Liverpool are one of the teams linked with the Serbian winger.

Krasic has a lot of pace and is a fantastic dribbler, which makes him a tough player to defend on the flanks.

He would be a real strong addition to the Liverpool attack.

Luuk de Jong

Dutch striker Luuk de Jong has starred this season in the Twente attack, and the club may find it difficult to refuse a large bid from several of the club's interested in him, one being Liverpool.

His agent Luis Laros recently addressed his clients summer plans, via Soccernet:

The Reds could certainly use his scoring ability at forward, especially if they don't sign Dempsey or Bent this summer.
