WWE Over the Limit Results 2012: Kofi Kingston and R-Truth Retain Tag Titles

Eric BallJun 7, 2018

Over the Limit won’t be going down as one of the greatest PPV events of all time, but there was no denying one of the most memorable moments was the tag team title match.

Kofi Kingston and R-Truth fended off Dolph Ziggler and Jack Swagger to retain their Tag Team Champion title in a match that featured high flying off the ropes and plenty of two counts.

With the PNC Arena in Raleigh, North Carolina in an absolutely frenzy, Kingston and R-Truth proved to be the superior wrestlers with their aerial attacks and superior quickness in the ring.

This was exactly what the doctor ordered for a tag division that desperately needed some new life infused into it.

It was also exactly what the two winners needed.

It’s no secret that both Kingston and R-Truth have been almost non-existent in recent weeks on Monday Night Raw, and have been complete afterthoughts on the PPV circuit. Winning a tag team match like this isn’t going to magically vault them into the super-star pantheon where John Cena and CM Punk reside, but it certainly doesn’t hurt.

If WWE is smart, they need to start promoting this duo much more, not only to vault the tag team division back into prominence, but to remind fans that WWE has two wrestlers that are worthy of being featured more often.

Kofi may be the most athletic wrestler in the WWE universe, and he deserves more of a spotlight to showcase his talents. R-Truth seemed to be on the rise back in the winter, but has mysteriously disappeared of late.

The creative team gave them the spotlight on Sunday—hopefully it’s only the beginning.
