Chicago Bulls' Forward Carlos Boozer Gives Us More Reason to Criticize Him
After Derrick Rose went down with a torn ACL, the Chicago Bulls had to look other places for players to pick up the scoring load. One of the players who was expected to be relied on most was forward Carlos Boozer. However, despite the expectations, Boozer fell flat on his face in the playoffs once again. Yet, the most infuriating part of Boozer's season came after the game. When talking to ESPN Chicago's Nick Friedell, Boozer said:
""I thought I played well, especially with the kind of season it was," Boozer said, when asked to assess his second season in Chicago, "We had the best record again in basketball, won our division again, had the top seed again, that's all that matters, yo."
"
No yo. That's not what matters.
This team came into the season with exactly one expectation, and that was to win an NBA Championship. Anything less would have been, and is, a failure. The Bulls had the best record last year. They won their division last year. They had the top seed last year. They made the Eastern Conference Finals last year. When a player makes a comment like this, you have to question his commitment to winning.
This basketball team has the ability and the potential to win a championship. Now let's be fair, this team did play hard and really did try to win against the 76ers even after both Rose AND Noah were out. I am proud of this team for the season, even if it didn't work out. And you have to be hopeful for the future.
However am I satisfied with this season as a Bulls fan? No. And Carlos Boozer should not be either! This is a season of his career that has been effectively wasted! Boozer is not getting any better, all he can get is worse. If he is satisfied being remembered as a player who just couldn't get over the top, then I believe it's time for Carlos Boozer to get out of town.
