New York Islanders: John Tavares Moves on to Quarterfinals of NHL 13 Cover Vote

Michael DeSantisJun 3, 2018

Well, John Tavares made it past the first elimination round (news via NHL.com) for the NHL 13 Cover Vote and deservedly so.

Tavares notched 31 goals and 50 assists for an 81-point total this past season.

The vote is similar to the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs. There are eight seeds in two different conferences, each. Tavares is the fifth seed. Seeds are determined by the total votes that scooped the players into the elimination bracket.

After knocking out the fourth-seeded Oilers stud Jordan Eberle, Tavares will now have to compete to garner more votes than the top-seeded Red Wings star Pavel Datsyuk. It won't be easy, but if campaign manager Michael Grabner keeps rallying Isles fans to vote, we can get the job done.

The campaign page can be viewed here. The page includes funny pictures, social media and videos. As seen on one of the videos on the page, even Blackhawks star Patrick Sharp is endorsing Tavares.

The winner of the Datsyuk-Tavares matchup will face the winner of Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist and Predators goalie Pekka Rinne.

The voting for Round 2 will take place between May 18 to May 23, after the other conference's Round 2 is complete.

So, Isles fans, get to voting here on this page so we can see Tavares' face on the NHL 13 cover!
