Chris Paul Injury: Latest Updates on Clippers Star's Hip Injury

Adam WellsJun 7, 2018

The Los Angeles Clippers are on the verge of closing out their series against the Memphis Grizzlies, but the health of Chris Paul going into Friday night's Game 6 is all that anyone in Hollywood is talking about.

Paul suffered a strained right hip flexor in the Clippers' Game 5 loss in Memphis on Wednesday night. The injury occurred in the fourth quarter, and he sat out the last 90 seconds of the game as a result.

Fear not Clipper fans, the heat-and-soul of the team will be in action tonight according to Arash Markazi of ESPN LA:

"

No surprise but Chris Paul and Blake Griffin will start despite injuries in Game 6 for the Clippers. espn.go.com/los-angeles/nb…

Like Kobe Bryant and his stomach flu last night, it would have taken a broken bone to get CP3 out of action for such an important game.

It will be interesting to see how effective Paul will be after missing a large chunk of the fourth quarter on Wednesday.

Can he play over 30 minutes?

Update: Friday, May 11 at 5:40 p.m. ET

Per ESPN, Chris Paul will play in Game 6 on Friday, according to "sources close to the player."

According to a report in the Los Angeles Times, Paul is going to be a game-time decision for Game 6, but he expects to play.

Clippers head coach Vinny Del Negro told ESPN Los Angeles that both Paul and Blake Griffin, who injured his knee in Game 5, were getting treatment on Thursday in anticipation for the game on Friday night:

"

They're both pretty sore today. They were in here getting as much therapy as they can today and tomorrow before the game. We obviously need both of them to be playing at a high level.

"

Both the Clippers and the Grizzlies have played inconsistent basketball this series, but with a chance to close the series out on their home floor, it would be a big surprise not to see Paul on the court for Game 6.

We will have all the latest news and information on Paul's status as it becomes available, so check back to this page for updates.
