Gabermetrics: Josh Hamilton's Historic Homers, Albert Pujols' Awfulness and More
Josh Hamilton hit a bunch of baseballs over the wall, Albert Pujols didn't and we have our first edition of Gabermetrics to hand out to the masses ready to learn the value of numbers.
Nerds, dorks and number-crunching ex-jocks have taken over the sports world. We are all demanded to place a heavy emphasis on numbers, stats and the wonderful world of sabermetrics.
Billy Beane be damned, this is my say in how we should really look at the numbers that dominate the sports we love.

Yankees Call Up 6'7" Prospect 📈
This week, we have some baseball feats and failures to dissect.
Josh Hamilton
Josh Hamilton hit four two-run home runs in a win over the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday night. He rounded the bases four times with the swagger of Samuel L. Jackson out for a Sunday walk in the park.
That's 4 home runs, 8 RBI and one mention of Shawn Green.
Since 1900, there have been 3 players to go 5-for-5 with four home runs. One of them was Joe Adcock, who did it in 1954 for the Braves.
The other was Green, who accomplished this feat in 2002 for the Dodgers.
EMQ (ESPN Mention Quotient): This is a very real statistic that I just made up that estimates how many times ESPN will mention a given feat in a day. It runs on a scale from hockey to Tim Tebow in a Red Sox Jersey.

Albert Pujols
Albert Pujols finally hit a home run. I would send him a box of cookies but I ate them all.
It would be easy to call off the hunt and proclaim the real Pujols as having returned, but we have a great number to throw out to you.
.228
That's the on-base percentage of the mighty Pujols. Let's examine which players have spent more time on the base paths then the $254 million man.
Eric Hosmer: The fantasy bust who has thousands of nerds wanting to set fire to their sleeper guarantees has a .252 OBP.
Darwin Barney: The Cubs player who is no doubt amazed every time he remembers he gets paid to play baseball has a .288 OBP.
BNAF: (Beers Needed to Accept Futility)
Albert Pujols' BNAF: Four
If Angels fans actually cared this might be 12, but four will get you a nice little buzz and a solid nap.
