SEC Football Top-150 Players: No. 113, P.J. Lonergan, LSU Center
The SEC Blog will be counting down the top 150 players in the SEC every day, concluding on Aug. 30 at the start of the college football regular season.
No. 113: P.J. Lonergan, No. 64, LSU, Center
2011 Stats: Played in 11 games with 10 starts, 623 snaps, 65.5 knockdowns
Strengths
Lonergan has established himself as one of the SEC's premier centers. The rising senior has started in 24 games during his first three years in Baton Rouge. In the SEC Blog's ranking of the division's centers, Lonergan ranked second behind Alabama's Barrett Jones.
He's the centerpiece of a veteran LSU offensive line that has big expectations in 2012.
Weaknesses
He doesn't have many. Lonergan doesn't get a lot of publicity due to the fact that he is stuck in the middle of one of the SEC's best offensive lines, but he makes that unit click.
2012 Prediction
Lonergan has All-SEC talent, but missed out on being named to the Associated Press All-SEC team a year ago. That changes in 2012.
LSU is loaded at running back, and Lonergan will be a big part of the success of that running game. He has some competition with Jones in Tuscaloosa, but he should be in the mix to be an All-SEC center.
