The Worst Divers in the NHL
If there's one thing that NHL fans can't stand, it's players diving and flopping to entice the referees into calling penalties that they don't deserve.
It happens a lot, unfortunately, and some guys dive more than others. However, the unsportsmanlike penalty that referees can use to punish divers isn't called enough.
Let's look at the worst dives in hockey today.
Brad Marchand
1 of 14Brad Marchand is a very good young player and one of those guys you love when he's on your team but hate when he's not.
Despite his good offensive skill, Marchand does dive way too much, and even Bruins fans can't defend him when he does this sort of stuff.
P.K. Subban
2 of 14Montreal Canadiens star P.K. Subban is one of the most talented defenseman in the NHL and is a good offensive player, but he dives too much.
Ryan Kesler
3 of 14It's unfortunate that a superstar player like Ryan Kesler needs to dive so much to draw penalties and help his team.
Derek Roy
4 of 14There's no need for someone as talented as Buffalo Sabres forward Derek Roy to flop all over the place.
Mike Ribeiro
5 of 14Mike Ribeiro's diving antics not only make him look bad, they make his team look awful. You can't defend his diving at all.
Kris Letang
6 of 14Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Kris Letang is one of better divers in the sport and embellishes quite a bit.
Sidney Crosby
7 of 14Since Pittsburgh Penguins star forward Sidney Crosby usually gets the call from the referees, it's not hard to imagine why he dives so much.
Alex Burrows
8 of 14Alex Burrows is one of the best divers and embellishment guys in the NHL, and he even bit Patrice Bergeron of the Boston Bruins in the 2011 Stanley Cup final.
Daniel Carcillo
9 of 14Pierre McGuire called this play "complete and utter fraudulent behavior" in the video above. I will have to agree with Pierre on this one.
Dustin Brown
10 of 14A power forward like Los Angeles Kings captain Dustin Brown shouldn't be hitting the ice after not being checked very hard.
Maxim Lapierre
11 of 14If the NHL selected an all-diving team at the end of the season, Maxim Lapierre would make the first team almost every year.
Henrik Sedin
12 of 14Vancouver Canucks star forward Henrik Sedin is one of the game's best offensive players, but his diving really irritates people.
Marty Turco
13 of 14Veteran Marty Turco is one of the worst divers in the history of the NHL at the goaltender position.
Joe Thornton
14 of 14There's no way a big, strong power forward like San Jose Sharks captain Joe Thornton should go down this easily.
