College Football Recruiting: Robert Nkemdiche Is the Nation's Top Prospect
If you are a big-time college football fan, then you most certainly have heard of Robert Nkemdiche.
He's the nation's No. 1 recruit, joining Jadeveon Clowney and Ronald Powell as defensive ends topping the prospect list. Physically gifted pass-rushers have been at the top of the list for three of the last four seasons; Dorial Green-Beckham, a wide receiver, was 2012's top prospect.
Nkemdiche is from Loganville, Georgia and, much like Clowney and Powell, has all of the tools to warrant the No. 1 ranking. Thanks to our guys over at Full Ride, I got a chance to chat a little about the rising senior and what makes him such a coveted target in the recruiting game.
As you heard in the video, Nkemdiche has got a big decision coming up. Ole Miss, with Nkemdiche's brother in the fold, is the "oddity" in his recruiting race as Alabama, Clemson, Georgia and LSU are in the mix as well. Clemson picked up some ground in April after they offered and got a commitment from Nkemdiche's teammate, running back Wayne Gallman.
Nkemdiche was set to announce his decision on May 18th after prom when things settled down and he had some time to really pour over the schools in his top five. However, very recently the rising senior decided to push that announcement:
"“This is one of the biggest decisions of my life. I want to go see some new places, and go back to some other places to spend more time with the coaches and to check out the campuses. It’s a big decision, and I want to get it right.”
"
Good for him. Take his time and get it right. Take all of his official visits and don't give into the pressure to decide now. No matter what Nkemdiche decides, the winner in this player lottery is going to get a heck of a ball player who stands to make quite the impact upon arrival.
