SEC Football Top 150 Players: No. 115, Donte Moncrief, Ole Miss WR
The SEC Blog will be counting down the top 150 players in the SEC every day, concluding on August 30 at the start of the college football regular season.
No. 115, Donte Moncrief, No. 12, Ole Miss, Wide Receiver
2011 Stats: 31 catches for 454 yards and four touchdowns
Strengths
Donte Moncrief emerged as one of Ole Miss' primary weapons last season. His 31 receptions set an Ole Miss record for catches by a freshman and was one of the few bright spots in the Rebels' disastrous 2011 season.
At 6'2", 214, Moncrief is a big target who has the speed to be a deep threat but can also be a solid possession receiver.
Weaknesses
He played well last year, but that was in an offense that never really established an identity. The secret on Moncrief is out, and he will have to adjust to having the spotlight on him as a sophomore in 2012. In order for him to take the next step, he's going to have to be more consistent. The new offense will certainly help.
2012 Prediction
New head coach Hugh Freeze is bringing his new spread offense to Oxford, and that should vault Moncrief into the top tier of SEC wide receivers. Expect him to be one of the primary weapons for the Rebels in 2012.
