If Yanks Shed Some Payroll, Could Adam Dunn Land in the Bronx?

Is Adam Dunn a possible candidate to land on the Yankees within the next few weeks? It’s possible, but unlikely. I like Dunn a lot, and the guy is pretty much a lock for 40 homers and 100 RBI, but he certainly isn’t a very good outfielder. However, his offense makes him a worthy addition.

The question is who does New York give up?

They are looking to move Nady or Swisher in some sort of deal, so one of them would be included. Some are bringing up the idea that Matsui should be in a proposed trade as well, but that would be a mistake.

Considering he has a full no-trade clause, a $13 million salary, and an injury history, he is probably staying put. Assuming he stays healthy, Matsui should have a big year in that lineup.

Would they move both Nady and Swisher? I don’t believe so.

Just imagine the middle-of-the-order punch if this deal got done. Dunn, A-Rod, and Teixeria have the potential to hit 40 homers and drive in 100 runs apiece.

I have to say, an outfield (defensively) of Damon, Gardner or Cabrera, and Dunn doesn’t sound good at all. But that offense would be explosive.
