WWE News: Real Reason the Miz Was Picked to Be in the WWE Studios' Marine 3

Earlier this week, the news broke that the Miz will be the superstar picked to be the lead actor in Marine: Homefront, the third film in the franchise that previously featured superstars John Cena and Ted DiBiase.

After multiple superstars were rumored to fill the role of the lead actor of the next installment of the Marine series, why was the former WWE Champion picked above the other choices for the film which is set to begin shooting this year?

Quite a few of you have been scratching your head over The Miz being cast as the lead in Marine: Homefront. Well, after Randy Orton was removed from the film, WWE champion CM Punk was originally pegged for the lead role.

WWE sources indicate that Vince McMahon stepped in and vetoed that decision, not because Punk can't carry a film (they have been looking for a lead role for him) but because McMahon decided that the company couldn't afford Punk to be off TV and the road right now.

With McMahon actually having a great reason to pull CM Punk from this film, the current WWE Champion would have given the film a better chance to be a success with the strong following that he has compared to that of the Miz.

Along with the better choice of CM Punk, it would have been good to have another former champion in Randy Orton attached to the film, but he was removed due to his time in the United States Marine Corps before joining the WWE in 2002.

When Marine: Homefront finally makes it to either theaters or a direct-to-DVD release, it will likely fail to reach the success of the previous two installments in 2006 and 2009.
