The Voices Are Why Rated RKO Are Rulers of the WWE Universe

Ron JohnsonJan 28, 2009

There are many who wondering exactly what I'm talking about. When you look at how the WWE stands right now, it's no surprise that we are heading into our second straight Wrestlemania with Edge and Randy Orton on top of the WWE Universe. Despite being on different shows, the duo have shown that the team once known as Rated RKO are just as strong divided as they were united.

Thanks to Matt Hardy, Edge is once again the WWE Champion, and the WWE will most likely have him going into Houston as champion against either Triple H, Jeff Hardy, Matt Hardy or even Christian. But what is not known is whether The Legend Killer will challenge the winner of The Elimination Chamber Match for the World Heavyweight Champion or jump back to SmackDown to pull another one over on Triple H.

Speaking of Orton, The Legend Killer added another title to his already impressive and Hall of Fame resume: Royal Rumble Winner. Thanks to his Legacy partners, Orton managed to outlast Triple H and claim his first Rumble victory. Now he has no one to stop him from reclaiming the World Championship at Wrestlemania.

Just like last year, Orton and Edge have a chance to headline Wrestlemania, the first tag team to do so in recent memory. With Edge running SmackDown alongside his wife, SmackDown GM Vickie Guerrero and Orton dominating RAW with the absence of Batista, it's only a matter of time before the two either join forces again or give us the match that every one of us are waiting for: Randy Orton vs. Edge for either the World Heavyweight or WWE Championship.

Why would the WWE make this match? It's simple. It's obvious that The Hardys will lock horns with each other at Wrestlemania due to Matt's double cross at The Royal Rumble this past Sunday. And no one can say whether Christian will return to RAW or SmackDown. But we do know that he is coming back.

Contrary to what Joe Burgett said last week, Christian did not come to his "brother's" aid at The Royal Rumble. But one is to believe that The Game will be eyeing to jump into the Elimination Chamber Match at No Way Out. But will The Instant Classic (which I believe will be carried over with him to WWE) look to get even with his brother one more time?

Or will it be The Age of Orton that comes out on top once again?

Bear this in mind: People enjoyed Orton beating John Cena and Triple H more than they enjoyed Edge losing to The Undertaker at Wrestlemania 24. But with so many possibilities heading into No Way Out next month, who will step up and prevent Rated RKO from winning it all at Wrestlemania 25?

Rated RKO are great for WWE right now. Because of Orton's assault on Vince McMahon, and Edge proving that he was not the one responsible for Jeff Hardy's series of unfortunate events, the lack of storylines has proven to be nothing more than a minimal problem for WWE.

So at this moment, it's safe to say that the current situation involving Randy Orton and Edge are what's keeping WWE on top of the sports entertainment food chain. For weeks, I have been insulted at the thought of Randy Orton being good for RAW, just as much as I have hated the Edge and Vickie Guerrero storyline, it has been beneficial to the fans of WWE.

As far as the WWE Universe and B/R Nation are concerned, Randy Orton as top dog on RAW is a very good thing. Edge still relying on Vickie to get the job done for him? Not so much. Now if Edge decides to finally kick Vickie to the curb and go at it on his own...starting at say, No Way Out...then you can almost expect something better to hit SmackDown.

So, I pose this question to you, The Nation: Rated RKO running the WWE Universe...Good thing or bad thing?

You decide.
